Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the Junior Sub School Manager of Glenroy College, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates about our students' achievements and the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead.
First and foremost, I would like to commend our students for their dedication, hard work, and continuous efforts in their academic pursuits. Their achievements are a testament to their commitment to excellence, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Moreover, we deeply appreciate the unwavering support and encouragement from you, our valued parents. Your involvement plays a pivotal role in the success of our students, and we are truly grateful for your partnership.
Our students have been enjoying educational excursions as a reward for their academic excellence. Recently, students embarked on a memorable trip to Puffing Billy, and our Glenroy Gold Card holders had a thrilling experience at Adventure Treetop. Additionally, to celebrate their academic growth, students were treated to special lunches. These experiences not only serve as a reward but also as motivation for our students to continue striving for greatness.
We are excited to announce an upcoming excursion to Funfields in November. Students who consistently demonstrate at least one of the college values - achievement, integrity, respect, and teamwork - as well as those who achieve academic excellence will be eligible for this trip. We encourage all students to continue putting in their best efforts, both academically and in embodying our college values.
Looking further ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the Year 8 camp to Campaspe Downs in December. This camp is a fantastic opportunity for students to bond, learn, and create lasting memories. We urge all Year 8 students to stay focused on their goals, as participation in this camp is a reward for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
Once again, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all parents and guardians for your continued support. Together, we are creating an environment where our students can thrive and achieve their fullest potential. Let's continue to work hand in hand to ensure the success of our students.
Warm regards,
Mr. Lok

On (the ominous) Friday 13th of October, a group of approximately 40 students, accompanied by Mrs Radojevic and Mr Dodson, took the one hour bus journey to Belgrave to ride the Puffing Billy tourist steam train. Before the train left, the conductor gave us a brief history of narrow gauge trains – named because the distance between the tracks is narrower than the standard (gauge) train network which allows them to go around sharper corners. We learnt about the history of the line, which used to be part of a larger network of passenger train lines, forming part of Melbourne’s train network. Then we set off on the scenic journey, enjoying the incredible view as we passed through. Many photos and much video were taken, and we saw and argued about some native Australian wildlife – some thought it was a small kangaroo, others thought a wallaby. We arrived at Lakeside station, had lunch and were met by the bus for the return to school. Despite being a chilly and rainy day, the view and the journey were absolutely worth it. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the commitment and achievement of our students.

Last semester year 9 Media participated in the ABC Takeover program. This was an incursion where someone came out from the ABC and taught students how to write their own personal stories. Selected students were chosen by the ABC as winners who were selected to create a film that shows their story. ABC produces this film with the student. This allows students to share their stories with the world. Congratulations to Muhammad Khan 9B who won a prize for his beautiful story. Muhammad has decided not to make his film as it is a personal story but is happy he has won an award for his efforts!
Auslan ( Australian Sign Language) is a non written language so it's terrifically challenging to analyse. Our students had to figure out location using all of their linguistic knowledge and apply in a science way. Of course some had creative fun along the way.
Keep Those Hands Up and Signing
Just like English has sounds, we in Auslan have handshapes. That form signs. This fortnight we've been celebrating Fist handshape signs. You can now sign and celebrate with your boys and daughters.

The Treetop Adventure excursion in Belgrave was held on Tuesday October 17. The excursion was to celebrate the junior students who have received the most Glenroy Gold Cards during Term 3. As you can see from the photos, the students had a great time.
