Dear St Brigid’s Families and Friends,
School fees for 2024 have increased in line with the MACS policy with an increase of 2% for family fees. Capital levy will have an increase of 4% and student levies will have an increase of 5%. School fees for the 2023 school year are now overdue unless you have a payment plan in place. Families on direct debit payments please review your last statement to ensure that your fees are paid in full by end of year. Thank you to those families who have made recent payments. Please contact Fiona Blair 95804518 or email finance@sbmord.catholic.edu.au if you have any queries regarding outstanding amounts or payments.
Well, the day has finally arrived - our school production is on tonight! We have many excited children ready to show off their dance moves and singing expertise to their parents. We had our dress rehearsal on Monday and the children did an absolutely amazing job and then we will have 2 run-throughs today on the ‘big’ stage at St Louis! We are very much looking forward to tonight! A big thank you to all the parents who have supported and encouraged their children throughout the term.
Performance Night Reminder:
Students need to arrive at St Louis Hall by 6:30pm. There is a pathway on the left hand side of the Hall to the Performing Arts Centre. We will have staff on the pathway to guide the students. They must come to the concert in full costume with thongs, sandals, or slippers. Doors will open at 6:45pm for parents. The performance will commence at 7:00pm and will conclude at approximately 8:30pm. There is no intermission.
The Kiss and Go parking bays in both Chute and Albert street are not for parking and coming into the school grounds. The Kiss and Go areas are for parents who sit in the car and then as soon as their children are in the car and buckled up they move. Please be respectful of those parents who do not want to stay and chat.
It is also illegal to park on the road, or to queue to enter the Kiss and Go parking bays, this includes waiting in Albert Street. It causes a buildup of traffic, which is very dangerous. Please adhere to the road rules around the Kiss and Go procedure. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
We had our 2024 Foundation Information Night last Wednesday and it was lovely to see so many new and existing families attend. What was really nice was the way our existing families introduced themselves and welcomed our new families to the St Brigid’s school community. This reminded me of how inclusive and welcoming we are to all. Thank you to those families that made them feel so welcome.
After our very successful Parent information nigh, we have signed up all our new families for 2024 to our Newsletter. This is your introduction to school life. Our newsletter is published on fortnightly basis and we really encourage you to read it so you know all the happenings in and around school!
Last Thursday, our Boys Tennis Team - Toby, Lewis, George, Hunter, Max, Seb, Luke, Josh and Xavier completed in the Inter-School Division Tennis Final in Bentleigh. Our team came third overall. The boys all said they had a great time and they were very proud that they made the final. We are very proud of you too!
A very big congratulations to the Arts, Culture and Wellbeing Leadership Group (Aishling, Oriana, Kiera, Matilda, Tate and Lucas) who organised the Mini-Fete last Thursday. We were all very excited about creating the items to sell. The Foundation level made amazing mystery jars (of which my family enjoyed the lollies). The 1/2 level made pom-poms, bookmarks and friendship bracelets. The Year 3/4‘s had a guess the lolly competition, art supplies and lolly jars for sale. Our Year 5’s made the most delicious cupcakes, which we all enjoyed very much! And our Year 6 students had carnival type activities. What a great success it was and to top it all off we raised an amazing $1,178.50. This is a wonderful effort as most items were $1 or $2 each. The money raised will go towards the new playground.
Thank you all for supporting our Year 6 leadership groups.
Last Friday our Year 3 students celebrated their Sacrament of Reconciliation. A big thank you to Fr Andrew, Fr Ignatious, Fr Peter and Jodie for making this special and private Sacrament such a wonderful experience for them. May God Bless them all.
Building up relationships with our secondary Catholic schools is such a great opportunity to for our children to see what activities are available to them when they go to secondary school, but it also allows relationships to be built up between our children. This week we have had students from Kilbreada who came to work with the Year 1/2 children on a Maths unit on 3D shapes. The Kilbreda students designed the unit of work and them proceeded to ‘teach’ our Year 1/2‘s. Our Year 1/2 teachers said it was a great experience and that our students thoroughly enjoyed working with the Kilbreda students.
St Bedes are coming to St Brigid’s on Friday to build some more planter boxes for us. These planter boxes will be built on the grassed area at the back of the basketball court on Chute Street.
Just a reminder that we have a long weekend next week. School will be closed on Monday 6th as a Time in Lieu day for Staff and them Tuesday 7th November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday
As mentioned last week, we are changing our Before and After School Providers. TheirCare has come on board to work with us and we are very excited with the prospect of working with a new company. They come to us very highly recommended.
As with all business, we need to have an indication of who will be interested in the program. I have compiled a quick survey for you to indicate your interest in Before and After Care as well as the holiday program. Click here to complete the survey. We would really appreciate your feedback.
Thank you for supporting the Before and After School Care - it is such a great service to have at our school.
The Tuckshop will be closed on Friday 10 November due to Tabloid sports. The Team will instead be open for lunch orders and over the counter sales on Thursday 9 November. All lunch orders must be placed by 9:00pm on Wednesday 8 November.
On behalf of the Mentone RSL we are selling Remembrance Day poppies, badges and memorabilia each today and tomorrow. Items are priced between $2 and $5 and will be available in the playground before and after school.
There was a great turn out to running club this week. It was really nice to see the sun shining and also families walking and running with each other. We have just over 100km until we reach the New South Wales Border! We would love to make it over the border by the end of the year. Come along to running club and help us get there. As next Tuesday is a public holiday we will have running club on Wednesday next week.
Running club this week
Laps run = 310
km run = 15.5km
Total km = 224.5km
We are still on the Hume Fwy/National Hwy passed Benalla near Winton.
Have a lovely long weekend and if going away travel safe.
Mrs Sullivan
