Class 6

Class 6 has been learning about the different States of Matter (liquid, solid and gas), in STEM  this term, and have been engaging in a number of activities exploring the different states and how they react with one another. We built a density tower out of different liquids to see which liquids had greater density. We made ice cream in a bag, using ice (and a lot of shaking) to turn milk and cream solid. It made a surprisingly good ice cream.

We were amazed a what happens when we microwave soap – it expands, rather than melts. We discovered that when you combine vinegar and bicarbonate of soda in a zip lock bag it creates a gas that expands and eventually popped the bag. We observed what happened to gummy bears when they were placed in different liquids – they absorbed water and coke and expanded to 3 times their size!

Everyone all had a great time dressing up for Halloween and participating in the Halloween Disco.
