Acting Principal’s Message

Mrs Kathlene Fenton

Dear Parents and carers,

Week 6 brings another busy week. K-1 excursion, year 6 leadership speeches, whole school swimming and the last day of year 7 St  Mary’s orientation for the year.

This Tuesday the year five group will get up in front of the whole school as well as their parents and present a speech on what makes them a good candidate to be a captain for 2024. When I looked up what makes a good leader these five words came up: integrity, self, awareness, courage, respect, empathy and gratitude.  When reflecting on the year 5 students that we have I can honestly say that each one of them already possesses these qualities so it will be amazing to see how they will only grow in these attributes next year.

Student Enrolment in 2024

For us to be able to finalise our staffing for 2024, if you are aware that your child/ren will not be returning to Sacred Heart School in 2024, please contact Robyn in the office to complete the official paperwork.

Whole School Swimming

It was fantastic to see all of the children wearing their swim shirts last week. With the weather heating up it’s important to be sun safe so make sure your children remember to pack them again this week as well as their swimmers, a towel, googles and of course sunscreen. Our Aquatic Skills will commence on Monday 20th November each day until Friday 24th November. Swimming coaches from Gunnedah, Maxine Kiellor and Louise Shanley will be here to give our children their expertise in the water.

Year 7 Orientation

This Friday, 17th November our year 6 students will once again visit St Mary’s Gunnedah in preparation for Year 7 next year. They will again have the opportunity to experience new subjects and meet up with the friends that they connected with a fortnight ago. I am sure they will have another great day.

Transition Graduation Ceremony

What a wonderful Transition Graduation Ceremony we had last Thursday. It was great to see the big smiles on their faces while performing 'These Hands' and receiving their special gifts of a book, certificate and graduation jar filled with goodies. We can't wait to see them all next year in Kindergarten.

Remembrance Day Liturgy

Remembrance Day 2023.  On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute's silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. This year our year 6 students ran a Remembrance Day Liturgy in our ANZAC Memorial Garden. It was a great way to remember those that have fought and will continue to fight to protect us. Thank you to those students that also came to the Remembrance Day service on Saturday. It was certainly a lovely service.

Assembly

Assembly will be held this Friday at 2:30 in the Infants space. This week Yr 5 will be presenting at assembly.

Kind regards
