Moulin Rouge the Musical Excursion

On Wednesday 18 October the Year 9 Performing Arts class headed into the Melbourne CBD to see Moulin Rouge the Musical.

The students had a fantastic time on the day, starting with a feast at Melbourne Central, followed by a pleasant stroll in sunny weather down Swanston St to the Regent Theatre.

Student Reflections

Just like a lot of my other classmates, this was my first time going to watch a theatre show, so it was an incredible experience. Upon arriving at the doors of the theatre, we could already feel the excitement buzzing in the surrounding atmosphere. Sitting inside the theatre to watch the performance was easily the best part. From the beautifully made costumes that were tailored to each character’s personality, to the heart-wrenching song choices that sparked nostalgia and enjoyment, the two-and-a-half-hour experience felt like I was actually experiencing the events of the play myself. This trip was an unforgettable memory that I will treasure in the distant future. Not only was the show an amazing highlight, but the opportunity to bond with all my peers through an out-of-school event made the experience all the more heart-warming.

The set design was breathtaking, meticulously capturing the essence of Belle Époque Paris. The dazzling costumes added an extra layer of grandeur. The performers and dancers showcased remarkable skill, precision, and passion, leaving us in awe. The chemistry between the lead actors was captivating, adding depth and emotion to the story.
