SCHOOL OF POSSIBILITIES
Year 11 Marine Biologists in the field...
Year 11 Biology students enjoyed an immersive day in the field, collecting data on the Barwon Heads Rocky Shore and visiting the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre in Queenscliff. The students also took an explorative ride on a marine biology cruise.
Watch this space...
Year 10 Product and Design students are in the process of building St Anne's own chicken coop. With a base to sit within the confines of a 6x4m trailer, the coop will eventually be situated behind the college where its new inhabitants will come home to roost.
There is great egg-spectation around the college in anticipation of seeing the final construction.
Cupcaking the day away
On Wednesday, Year 10 students along with Jacinta and Rhonda, popped on some tunes and enjoyed dancing, mixing, baking, taste-testing and icing 150 cupcakes in preparation for RU OK Day? activities on Thursday.
R U OK Day
A huge congratulations and thank you to the Year 11 VCE-VM class for all of your hard work preparing resources, decorating and cooking the BBQ for R U OK day. It was great to see everyone enjoying the day and making connections to the importance of checking in and encouraging others to seek help. Your goal, to connect with your community and collaborate to organise a community event, was a huge success!
Year 10 Camp Updates
Early next term, Year 10 families will receive further information about the upcoming Year 10 Melbourne City Camp. A reminder that this camp will take place from the 25th - 27th of October.
Year 10 Formal Updates
The Year 10 Formal Committee is very excited to announce this year's theme: Summer Nights. The theme is inspired by paper lanterns and hues of a sunset. The formal committee will continue to meet in Term 4 and provide you with regular updates. Most importantly, dance practice will begin the first week back next term!
Unit 3 & 4 Exam Preparation
We wish our VCE Unit 3 & 4 Business Management and Psychology students a productive holiday as they prepare for their upcoming external exams. Families please be aware that students have the opportunity to participate in holiday practice exam preparation here at St Anne's College and we strongly encourage them to take full advantage of the sessions that Troy and Lila have organised for them.
Wishing all of our families and students a restful and safe term break. I am looking forward to seeing the students back at school on Monday, October 2.
On behalf of both myself and Meredith - who I hope is having an amazing time enjoying some well deserved long service leave - I wish all of our families and students a restful and safe term break. I am looking forward to seeing the students back at school on Monday 2, October 2.
Important Year 10 Dates
We are very excited to confirm dates for the Year 10 Melbourne City Camp and Year 10 Formal. The Year 10 Camp will take place from Wednesday, October 25 to Friday, October 27, 2023. The focus of this camp is on building students' capability to use public transport, connecting students with higher education providers and enjoying some of the attractions of our state capital. The much anticipated Year 10 Formal will take place on Friday, November, 10. Both the Melbourne City Camp and the Year 10 Formal are compulsory school events and all students are expected to attend. If families have any concerns over their students' ability to attend, for any reason, I encourage you to contact me as soon as possible. In many cases, we can make adjustments and allowances to support all students to access these events in some capacity. Please mark these dates in your diaries. Students who are employed are advised to notify their employers of their unavailability on these dates.
Reminders about expectations
Pastoral Group attendance
Students should arrive at school in time to attend pastoral group each morning commencing at 8.55am. This is an important part of the day and a time for prayer and reflection. Teachers are able to follow-up with students and check in on how they are doing. Daily messages are delivered to students at this time. It is vital that the school completes accurate records for attendance and the roll is marked during this session.
Uniform
It is expected that students wear the correct academic uniform to school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday students are permitted to wear their PE uniform, again this should be the full correct uniform including the St Anne’s tracksuit pants or shorts. Year 10 students completing the sports coaching elective are permitted to wear their PE uniform on Thursday in addition to the above.
Use of air pods and mobile phones
Students are not permitted to use air pods or mobile phones while at school. These items are to be left in students lockers during the school day. Parents are asked not to ring their child’s mobile phone while they are at school or expect them to receive text messages. If you need to get a message to your child during the school day, please contact the front office who will deliver the message on your behalf.
Your support on these matters is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Sarah Baglin & Meredith Lia (SOP Leaders)

The VCE Exams Navigator 2023 should be read by all students presenting for 2023 VCE external assessments. It contains important information about what you need to know for VCE external assessments. A hard copy was distributed to all students present in class on Friday July 21st by the subject teachers of: VCE Unit 3&4 Psychology, Business Management, and Vet Engineering Studies. If a student was away, please see the VCE Coordinator for a hard copy. We advise students to retain the VCE Exams Navigator 2023 until they obtain their VCE results.
