Stage 5 Science
In science, Stage 5 has been learning about body coordination which involves looking at how the body deals with removing wastes, how food is broken down and rebuilt through metabolism, the structure and function of the brain, and how the endocrine system produces and uses hormones. Students have looked at how all of these systems work together to keep the body in a constant state of homeostasis.
To finish off their topic they completed a brain and kidney dissection. The students were able to see some of the structures that have been discussed in class and learnt that despite not looking like much, the brain is a very complex organ that scientists are continually making new discoveries about.
