Interim Reports & Parent–Student–Teacher Interviews
Interim reports are now available on PAM and Parent-Student-Teacher Bookings are now open. If you are unsure of your PAM login please contact the office on 03 5662 4255 or email info@mmcrc.catholic.edu.au
Parent–Student-Teacher interviews are important opportunities for parents to make meaningful connections with teachers and put into place clear strategies to drive student improvement. Encouraging young people to achieve personal bests, avoiding comparison between themselves and others and recognising what they have accomplished and what they may be able to do better to achieve even more, is crucial to driving student improvement.
Parent-Student-Teacher interviews will be held in Pioneer Hall on Wednesday 6th September 2023 between 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm, and Thursday 7th September between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm.
Bookings for these will close at 5.00 pm Tuesday 6th September.
Year 12 Practice Examinations
Please note the Year 12 Practice Examinations will be run at the College from Friday 1st September until Friday 8th September. There will be no Year 12 classes on Friday 1st September, as there are two practice exams (English and General Maths) scheduled on that day.
On Monday 4th September, Tuesday 5th September and Friday 8th September exams will commence in Period 5 and will finish by 4.15pm at the latest. Period 1 to 4 Classes will still run over this period, the timetable has been emailed to all students.
Due to the Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews, the practice exams scheduled for Wednesday 6th September will commence in Period 4 and be completed by 3.15pm.
Year 12 students will be required at the College on Thursday 7th September for their final English SAC in the morning, and Block 4 exams in the afternoon. Please note that while this is a student-free day for Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews, some bus services will still be available.
The Power of Practice Exams
The practice exams completed during Term Three should be the start of many practice exams that Year 12 students will complete in the lead-up to the official exam period commencing Tuesday 24th October. There are numerous benefits of completing practice exams.
1. Familiarity Breeds Confidence: Practice exams give students the chance to get familiar with the exam format, question types, and time constraints. The more students expose themselves to the conditions of the actual exam, the more confident they'll become in tackling it head-on.
2. Identify Strengths and Weaknesses: Taking practice exams helps them identify the subjects and topics they excel in and those that require more attention. This insight allows students to allocate study time wisely and focus on areas that need improvement.
3. Fine-Tune Time Management: Completing practice exams under timed conditions trains students to manage time effectively during the real exam. They will learn how to distribute the time among different sections, preventing them from getting stuck on a single question.
4. Reduce Exam Anxiety: Familiarity and preparation are powerful antidotes to exam anxiety. Regular practice exams reduce the fear of the unknown, making the actual exam day feel less daunting.
5. Enhance Recall and Application: Practice exams help students to reinforce their memory by making them recall and apply what they've learned. This active retrieval strengthens their understanding and retention of information.
