Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

As mentioned on earlier newsletters our students have a unique and exciting cultural experience to look forward to this term.

We will be hosting 16 children from the Yarralin community school in the Northern Territory as part of their trip to Victoria.  Please view link - Yarralin school

These children will be visiting Melbourne and Victoria for only 1 week and thanks to Mr Richardson and his sister who happens to be the Principal of this remote school, they are coming to Sacred Heart in Colac on Friday September 1st.

We have all sorts of activities planned including assembly, artistic and sporting activities, a “lunch tasting” of kangaroo or beef stew and a “Colour Run”. - Please send a sandwich along as well, as past experience has taught us that we will have some kids who won’t eat our delicious stew. Children should wear an older white or light coloured tee shirt for the “Colour Run” as they will be doused in a non-toxic colour powder during the afternoon event.

CAN YOU HELP?

  1. It is our understanding that none of these children have been to Victoria before. None of them have experienced a Victorian winter before. NONE of them own a jumper!

The 16 children are aged 11-12 and we would like to gather some donated windcheaters and tracksuit pants for them to protect them from the cold Victorian winter.

If you have any of these items that older siblings have grown out of and can donate to these children we are going to try to transport them to Melbourne so they are waiting for them at their accommodation.

The children’s sizes range from 10 -14.

Donations can be left at our school office this week.

And 2. We are also looking for a couple of couriers who could perhaps drop these donations at the “Urban Camp” on Bren’s Drive in Parkville (near the Zoo) on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday this week.

Please telephone the school if you are able to help out with this delivery.

VIRTUAL TOUR Last week I mentioned the Virtual Tour that was created for our school last week. The tour is now available on our website.

ROADWORKS The council have roadworks planned for the rest of this week on Pound Road between Hart Street and Gravesend Street, parents might like to consider alternative routes to and from school as I understand the works will require this section of road to be closed.
