9/10 Robotics Excursion to KIOSC

As part of their learning about technologies in society, on Friday 13th, the Year 9 & 10 Robotics class went to KIOSC to work the 3D printers, vacuum formers, and laser cutters. Earlier in the week, students had started by designing 3D models using TinkerCAD and logos using Adobe Illustrator. Their models were then sent to KIOSC, where they were 3D printed, ready for us on Friday. On the day, students started by learning how to use the vacuum former, making simple test models out of playdough to form, before using their 3D prints to create vacuum-formed moulds. They then learnt how to use the laser cutters, designing simple boxes and adding in their logos on the computers, before testing them out in cardboard. Once they were happy with them and made sure they were going to fit together, they were able to cut them out of plywood and assemble. Finally, they got to use their moulds from earlier in the day to create unique chocolates, packaged to take home in their assembled boxes! There was lots of learning happening throughout the day on what worked best for these technologies and we look forward to seeing students apply some of this to their future projects back at school!

9/10 Fashion & Products

From hoodies to halter necks, tube tops to pleated skirts, and even zipper bags, Ms. Rumble’s Textiles class has had an incredibly creative term! 🧵👗 Students have been exploring their own design choices, resulting in a fantastic range of products. Their creativity and flair have truly shone through each stage of the design process. We’re eagerly anticipating the final outcomes and can’t wait to see their stylish creations come to life next term!

Year 7 Digital Tech

Year 7 Digital Technologies students have worked very hard in the last month learning problem solving, critical thinking, analytic and sleuthing skills in their Cybersecurity task to finish off this term.

Students were asked to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways, and their audience were fellow Year 7 students. Students were very creative in their submissions, from Cybersecurity Infographics and Informative posters, to board games,  Kahoot Quizes and even songs (with cyber security based lyrics).

These posters and other submissions were all aimed around sharing their new knowledge about how to be safe online, and from their work I think you can agree that students have really been able to showcase their new knowledge about digital cybersecurity and safety.
