Physical Education
What an action- packed Term we have had so far in Physical Education. The first 2 weeks of the Term saw our all of the students rehearse in the gym for a superb dance performance. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged and getting out of their comfort zones.
Gymnastics for Level 3 and 4
The Level 3 and 4 students are in the middle of their gymnastics program conducted by coaches from BTYC Gymnastics in Donvale. The students have used an array of our own equipment and equipment brought from BTYC to enable students to perform handstands, balances jumps and hangs. The final 2 lessons will be conducted at BTYC using their mazing facilities and equipment.
Athletics Review
Throughout Term 3 the Level 3- 6 students had been training hard for the House Athletics events with 57 students qualifying for the District event against 7 schools from our local area. From there 9 students (Jeremy 6S high jump, Seb 6J 1500m, Janelle 6S long jump, Laith 4WB long jump, Bella 3B high jump and 200m, Luscien 6C high jump, Chanel 4S 80m hurdles, Chloe 5E discus and Andreas 3G 80m hurdles) qualified for the Division event. Reaching the Division level for any event is something to be very proud of and we congratulate you all on your achievement. However, for 1 student, reaching the Division stage was not where it ended and Chloe from 5E progressed through to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional event (or EMR) at Tom Kelly Athletics Track on October 10th. Well done Chloe from 5E for progressing so far in the discus. We are extremely proud of what you have achieved.
Division Volleyball
Congratulations to our Level 6 volleyball team who have shown great commitment throughout the last couple of years in developing their skills. The team members have shown great passion for the game and this enabled them to qualify for the Division stage in both the mixed team and girls team. Unfortunately, their great run came to an end with a loss to Serpell Primary in the girls match 8-17 13-17. Our mixed team (which included 2 girls) played against an all -boys team from Warrandyte Primary who overpowered our team with some amazing overarm serves. The match included some great points however we lost 5-17 6-17. It was a great experience for those involved and I hope they continue their love of volleyball into their secondary school life.
