Principal's Message

Our children are our future...

Principal's Message

Welcome to the start of Week 3 of Term 4. I hope life has been good to you and those you care about. I hope you are working to make a positive difference in the world.

The staff are working hard to ensure Term 4 is a productive and positive one for all students. Each day, I see the staff's efforts first hand and am continually impressed. They really care. And they are skilful at what they do. Not perfect, but striving for excellence. I can't ask for more than that as their leader.

Our staff are coached to achieve performance at the next level. They are observed by experts and set goals for improvement. SMPS is a challenging environment  for staff. We have a solid curriculum which is the envy of many schools who come to visit. Our routines and procedures are designed to cut down on time waste and maximise time on task. They are also designed with safety in mind. We had a group of high level educators visit us last week to admire our work so they can bring it to scale across the system. We have some filming slated for the future by the Department of Education which aims to capture our work for others to view.

We are so blessed to have the children and parents that we do. It makes for an interesting and stimulating life. We are grateful to you all for this opportunity. We take the care and education of your children seriously and we want to do well as individuals and as a team.

I look forward to the work in Term 4 and setting up the school for success in 2025.

School Contributions Gratitude

We are so lucky to have a supportive parent group. I spoke with Colin (our Business Manager) this week and marvelled at the 85% + return rate of Parent Contributions money so far in 2024. I then spoke to Zoe (our Librarian) to give her access to the generous donations that you have all made to our Library Fund. I plan on speaking to Jai (our Facilities Manager) who will be excited to access your donations to the Building Fund to improve our school facilities.

Our programs can run at full tilt due to your support and generosity. In these days where cost of living is a concern, 85+% of you have rolled up the sleeves and given over to the school that your children attend so it can be its best. Colin also works alongside those families (inside the 15% who may be experiencing some financial hardship) to support them as best we can. It is a team effort and people give what they can. Nobody loves their kids less if they have hardship and cannot pay the full amount (for whatever reason) in 2024. But we are nonetheless grateful for the financial support you can offer.

I want to say with the deepest thanks that all staff (and your kids) are grateful for your financial support. Please keep supporting in future where you can. It makes an enormous difference to what we can do in terms of outcomes for our wonderful students. Our NAPLAN outcomes are some of the highest in the state and it is the support that we achieve (psychologically and financially) that makes the difference.

Request to be Involved in Children's Forum

I received an email from our local Member of Parliament , Nina Taylor. Nina is running a Children's Forum on November 20 and wants some involvement from our community. Please read the attached flyer to see if it something of interest to you. Get involved where you can.
