DVPSSA DISTRICT ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

On Thursday 29th August 29th, 54 students from Greenhills Primary School participated in the DVPSSA District Athletics Carnival at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium.

The Greenhills Athletics Team performed exceptionally well, finishing 2nd overall out of 10 schools. All students, regardless of their individual results, should be incredibly proud of their efforts and how they embodied the school’s GREAT values. Who knows? We might even have some future Olympians among us! 💪🏼

Best of luck to the students who qualified for next week’s Nillumbik Division Athletics Carnival!

COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to Mitch O (5JH) for ending a fantastic season with the Greensborough Junior Football Club by earning the Most Improved Player Award for the U12 White team. What makes this achievement even more impressive is that he accomplished this as an underage player.

Well done, Mitch! 💪🏼

If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.

DIARY OF A SCHOOL KID

SCHOOL PRODUCTION

Greenhills Primary School is proud to present The Jungle Book, a whole school musical production based on Kipling’s famous classic. Raised by a family of wolves since birth, Mowgli must leave the only home they’ve ever known when the fearsome tiger Shere Khan unleashes his mighty roar. Guided by a no-nonsense panther and a free-spirited bear, the young child meets an array of jungle animals. Along the way, Mowgli learns valuable life lessons as their epic journey of self-discovery leads to fun and adventure.

In Term 4, 2024, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.

The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.

The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025.

Actions for parents and carers

Before 18 October 2024, the Department of Education is asking parents and carers to:

We have Food/Pantry bags on offer from LinC (Love in the Name of Christ)

If you wish for a bag of pantry items to help with the day to day running of the house, please email greenhills.ps@education.vic.gov.au and we will let you know when they are available for pick up from the office.

Attendance

If your child is not present in class and we have no explanation, then an email will automatically be sent to all family members at 10am. If you receive an email, it is important that you explain their absence ASAP (click the link in email).  If your child is going to be away for a full day or more, please notify the school by entering the absence on Compass, rather than email the teacher. You can do this easily in Compass.

If your child is going to be absent for a family holiday or other long period of time, an email should be sent requesting this leave to James Penson prior to the event: james.penson@education.vic.gov.au

Student Arrival/Departure

Please collect your child before or after recess and lunch times as they may not hear the announcements during these times.

Recess time 10.55 - 11.25, Lunch time 1.30-2.20pm.

If your child arrives at school after 9.00am (after the morning bell has finished) you must come to the office with them to be signed in for a late pass
