Principal's Report

Policies

At our last School Council meeting we approved two updated policies. One is the Child Safe Code of Conduct, which is part of our Child Safe policies and the other is a Statement of our Philosophy and Values. The links to the two policies is attached - please take the opportunity to read them. If you would like to provide any feedback please forward your thoughts to the school email account.

Year 6 Performance

Our Year 6 students have spent this term preparing for their annual drama performance. The children held the performance yesterday at school and it was filmed. Once the editing of the filming is completed parents will be sent the link so they will be able to watch it at home.

The feedback is that the children did a great job. Thanks to our fantastic drama teacher Glynis Angell for all of the hard work she put into ensuring the children were well prepared.

Athletic Sports

Last week we had 24 students in the athletics team that went to the Meadow Glen Athletics track to compete in the Division Athletics Sport. We had several students who placed in their events. All of the students who came first or second will go on to the next level early next term to complete at the regional level.

Thanks to our PE teacher Kris Mihal for all the hard work he has put into organising the event and training the students.

School Uniform

Currently we have several students who are not wearing the correct school uniform on a regular basis. Our uniform is a colour-based uniform of royal blue and gold.

The uniform does not have to have a school logo however it can not have any other logos either. We also have a number of students wearing black and white long sleeved tops under their short sleeved polos. This is not part of our uniform and should not be worn.

Hats

In only a couple of weeks we will begin Term 4 and it will be compulsory for all children to wear a hat when they are outside. Children must wear a royal blue school hat. Parents can buy a bucket hat from the school Uniform Shop; however, the children can also wear a broadbrimmed hat (royal blue).

Children are not permitted to wear a baseball style hat.

Parents, please make sure your child has a clearly named hat in their bag at all times during Term 4. Children who do not have a hat will be restricted to playing in an undercover area.

If your child needs a new hat you can order one on Qkr.

End of Term

Today’s Preston Post will be the last newsletter for the term.

As we head into term 4 there is hint of sadness as it is our grade six students last term at Preston Primary. As always term 4 will be very busy.

On Friday September 20th we will be finishing school at 2.30. I hope all our families have a very relaxing and enjoyable break. I look forward to everyone’s safe return on Monday October 7th.

Regards
