2024 production

It happened.  The curtain has fallen on the 2024 all-school musical production. The music and memory-making is over. It all starts again at MGSC in just 17 months!

Some final student reflections on the Legally Blonde - The Musical experience.

Stage View

After many months of rehearsals and performances, Legally Blonde has finally been wrapped up as a fond memory.

Beginning with our auditions so early in February, the entire cast has had the majority of the year to get to know one another, and to form some truly incredible bonds. After starting with our Tuesday rehearsals (and Thursday for the leads!), the show progressed until we were singing, dancing and acting every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday - a tiring experience for everyone! However, it must not be understated the amount of talent that resides within this school - from our incredible leads down to the ensemble cast, it was a really rewarding process being able to see the effort and all those hours of practice come together to make something incredible.

Show week was a new experience entirely. All cast members were exempt from classes during the Monday and Tuesday of the week, and we sported our Legally Blonde t-shirts as we rehearsed (a nice change from the regularity of our day to day classes)! Practising and getting into a routine of fun warmups and quick costume changes was something that was crucial to the running of our show. Throughout these final show runs, the main cast took a step back for a “fun run”, in which the band, crew, and supporting cast members had a go at the main roles (I have to say that the teachers’ rendition of “Omigod” would have to be my favourite).

And then commenced the performances! From Monday to Saturday, the cast, crew and band remained at school, performing for different audiences every night. The last 2 shows were filled with emotion and joy as the cast wrapped up our final shows.

Being part of such an incredible cast of people has given many of us the chance to meet people and make connections with those across all years, in a place where age and grade seems less important. In saying all of this, I would like to thank all the incredible teachers and individuals who make all of this possible!

Keep Bending and Snapping everyone!

A Little Behind the Scenes of Bringing Legally Blonde to Life!

After countless hours of dedication and hard work, our production of Legally Blonde has come to a triumphant close, bursting with the same energy we started with so many months ago! It has been an incredible journey from the first meetings and to-do lists, through the initial coats of paint, glittery dress rehearsals, and finally to production week, where we had the privilege of sharing our work with a sold-out audience of friends and family. Watching the audience cheer, cry, and experience the emotions we felt along the way was truly rewarding.

Backstage, a world of magic unfolded at MGSC as our remarkable crew worked tirelessly to bring Elle’s world to life. The seamless set transitions, quick problem-solving, and technical mastery—from lighting and sound to micing up actors—made every performance shine. Crew members stepped into leadership roles, coordinating every detail and spending countless hours in rehearsals and lunchtimes to ensure everything ran smoothly. From coordinating scenes from backstage via coms to managing set pieces and lighting cues, their dedication was unparalleled.

Under the guidance of our staff production team, our set and prop teams created visually captivating scenes, from the perfectly pink Barbie Box to the intricate details of Paulette’s Salon desk. Meanwhile, our talented costume and makeup teams transformed our actors into their characters, adding the final touches that brought the story to life.

For some of us, this was our last musical, making this production extra special. There were more tears and smiles in the room than ever before as we wrapped up our final show. While we’re relieved that the long hours are over, we’ll miss the thrill of watching our friends perform as Elle and Emmett fell in love all over again, night after night. We’ve forged new friendships and grown close, even though we know we’ll still see each other in the schoolyard.

We are incredibly privileged to have worked with such a dedicated team from across the entire school, and we cannot express enough admiration for everyone involved. The opportunity to work alongside and learn from real industry professionals was an invaluable experience.

As the curtain falls and the flowers we received from friends and family begin to droop, it’s a bittersweet reminder that this chapter has ended. However, the memories—and the endless mental renditions of “Omigod You Guys”—will stay with us forever.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making Legally Blonde a success. From set construction to late-night rehearsals, and to the teachers who guided us along the way, this production truly reflects the spirit of teamwork and community. Behind every performance was a dedicated crew, the heartbeat of the show, ensuring every set change, light cue, and sound effect happened flawlessly.

Thank you, and we hope you enjoyed our show as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life!

First production experience

I recently had the privilege of being part of the school production Legally Blonde. It was the best time ever. We started with auditions and soon met our fellow cast members, crew and music team. The practices were twice weekly and then Sundays. As a featured dancer we learned 5 dances and performed with the ensemble an main cast. When it came time to begin the performances we were so excited. All the hours of practice and hard work we has put in were finally ready to show our friends and family. The first night performance went so well Being part of Legally Blonde was fantastic. I have made new friends and gained confidence as a dancer and would highly recommend anyone to be a part of the next production.
