Our Language Literature Group at the Regional Challenge

Reflection from the Team

Participating In The Annual Event Of Tournament of the Minds was a very joyful experience. We got to showcase our script to put our teamwork skills to the test in the impromptu challenge. We had 6 weeks to put together our performance of the Language Literature challenge where we created a short play under 10 minutes with the characters Mary from the secret Garden and The Lorax from The Lorax.  The Impromptu challenge was based on teamwork where we had been given a prompt and answered a question. We had 1 minute to discuss our ideas and another minute to present them. Overall we had an amazing time at the tournament of minds and hope to be there next year!

Our Social Science Group at the Regional Challenge

Reflection from the Team

Our group (Harry M, Nestor M, Lana B, Rebecca W , Jack R, Xavier E and Duke T) known as the Social Science group worked on our question which was ‘how to create Pangea again with using the spirit of the Tournament of minds’. Pangea means connecting all the continents together creating a supercontinent. Then using the spirit of TOM which is peace, justice and respect. Furthermore, we chose to research about how society and politics would change for the better with this new supercontinent and the spirit of TOM. We split up our roles and created speeches, models, and a presentation.

At 12:45 we got called to do the impromptu speech, we were at Randwick Boys high school. We entered a small classroom with a big table and 7 chairs ready for us to start. The judges gathered us and explained the difficult question twice: “code navy blue- go this way”. When the time was up we had to present. We all went in a circle sharing our thoughts on this difficult topic, the one minute finished and the judges said good job and congratulated us. We walked out of the room and felt happy with ourselves.
