Dear Parents,

ATTENDANCE LETTERS

Sydney Catholic Schools is currently updating their procedures regarding attendance. As a school community we continue to be committed to ensuring students attend school on a regular basis. I have included below, advice that was added into previous newsletters so that you are aware of what missing school looks like across the school year.

Part of this process is to regularly inform families of attendance percentages, especially when these percentages become an attendance concern.  You may have already received a Compass notification regarding attendance. Please feel free to come and speak to Mrs Burfield or myself regarding this if you would like to discuss this further or require assistance in addressing attendance concerns. We understand students can be sick and families take holidays throughout the school term for various reasons, but we are obliged under the Education Act (1990) to inform you of any attendance concerns.

SYDNEY CATHOLIC SCHOOL FAMILY LAW FACT SHEETS

Please see attached updated fact sheets from Sydney Catholic Schools regarding separation and divorce for those whom this may apply to.

TURNING CIRCLE SAFETY REMINDERS - MORNINGS

Just a reminder to ensure students exit cars in the morning from the curbside door. All students should be able to exit vehicles unassisted as drivers are not allowed to exit vehicles in turning circle.

Like in the afternoons, please only use the school side of Belmont St to drop off. Students should not be dropped off on the parish side. Many cars are making illegal u-turns after dropping off rather than coming around the whole turning circle. Also please use all of the space at the turning circle rather than stopping at the school gate or where the teacher is standing.

SMART WATCHES - SCHOOL MODE

Our Mobile device policy states that all SMART watches must be switched to school mode or airplane mode during the school day. This should happen prior to entering the school gates and remain in school mode until a student is picked up in the afternoon. Students who use their devices during the day are in breach of our Mobile Device policy and procedures and will receive a breach notice regarding this. Parents MUST NOT contact students through these means during the school day. If you wish to get a message to your child, please do so by calling the office.

I have added below our procedures for mobile phones and devices for your information.
