Student Representatives

Conference Athletics

We have a staggering 36 students who will represent our school at the Conference 3 Athletics trial held at Sydney Olympic Park on Monday 12th August (Term 3). Students will meet at the start of Term 3 to receive their representative jersey- and have any questions answered. Mrs Miller and Miss Devlin will meet all students at the venue. Please ensure you have provided consent via COMPASS for your child to attend this event. A reminder note will be shared with all attending students and spectators. Good Luck team St Pat's!

REPRESENTATIVE JERSEYS

This is a friendly reminder for anyone who has any representative at home. We kindly ask for them to be promptly washed and returned to the school office. We do require many jerseys to be provided to our Athletic representatives which is fast approaching. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

OLYMPIC NEWS

Congratulations to former St Patrick's Catholic College, Sutherland student Grace Young, who is representing Australia in Field Hockey.

Grace’s sporting journey began back when she was only five years old, growing up in the country town of Grafton, an upbringing that she credits much of her success to. By the age of twelve she was already representing the state of NSW in national competitions.

Well done to our Hockeyroos who have been very successful at the Olympics so far!

Olympian Visit

Suzy Balogh will be connecting with Years 4 - 6 students on  Tuesday the 6th of August as part of Olympics Unleashed.

The students will learn from Suzy Balogh's Olympic journey how to build resilience, the importance of setting goals and how to find what you are passionate about.

Students will hear firsthand from Suzy Balogh about how they overcame challenges to compete in their chosen sport at the very highest level, and how some lessons they’ve learned in sport can help students to be the best they can be – whether that’s in school, at home, on the sporting field or with friends.

We look forward to hearing about Suzy's Olympic Journey.

SCS INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Interschool Sport

Our first Interschool Gala Day kicks off with Year 3 playing Tri Tag Rugby on Wed 7th August. Please ensure you have provided consent for your child to attend this gala day. All information can be found on COMPASS including this 2 minute video which provides you with an overview on how to play. Students will watch this video in class and discuss the rules before attending this gala day.

Please take note that there will be NO LEVEL 1 Stage 3 team for Tri Tag Rugby. There are no progressions for this particular sport.

Why Tri Tag Rugby?

  • Tri Tag Rugby has been specifically designed to complement Rugby’s core fifteen-a-side and seven-a-side formats and provide a softer introduction to the game while still prioritising participant skill development and understanding of Rugby.
  • Not only does Tri Tag Rugby give participants greater flexibility throughout their rugby journey, but also provides a great way for clubs to broaden their participation base and increase retention, as neither age nor physical contact are barriers to entry.
  • Press play on this 3 minute video to view the impact that Tri Tag Rugby has had on Gulargambone Rugby Club.

League Tag Interschool Sport

We still have Year 4 who need to have their turn at the League Tag Gala Day. This will occur in Week 6. We are still awaiting official confirmation for progressions from the Level 1 League Tag Interschool Sport Day with Stage 3. As soon as we receive the news, we will be sure to share it with our school community.

LOCAL CLUB GALA DAYS

Sutherland Sharks Basketball Gala Day

Our Stage 3 Boys have been long awaiting for their day at the Basketball Stadium. The draw has been shared with any potential spectating families. With 6 teams entered I'm sure the boys will enjoy every second of each game. The final basketball gala day will be with our Stage 3 Girls on Monday 12th August (week 4)

Touch Football Gala Day

There was a brief mention of our school entering a NSW touch gala day. With multiple events clashing with this particular date and all resources stretched we are unable to proceed. We are however grateful for all the Interschool Sport this year which has provided multiple sporting opportunities for our students.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Our school has received details for the NSW State NFL Flagball Championships on Friday the 9th of August. The day is for Year 5 and 6 students only and we have been informed we can only send 1 mixed team of 10 players to this gala day.

Our school has hired an NFL independent coach to select the 10 students based on a trial process. Well done to the 46 students who trialled. You made the process very challenging! Congratulations and good luck to the 10 students who were chosen.

With NFL showing their presence in NSW we hope to see future gala days where we can enter multiple teams.

COMMUNITY SPORT

Congratulations to Ethan P & Oscar T from year 6 who both won their Basketball Grand Finals recently. Both rep boys compete in separate age groups and both came away with the win. Well done!
