Olympics at EHPS

On Monday we had an Essex Heights Opening Ceremony at Assembly. Children listened to the Indonesian captains (Rami, Eva , Maddie and Eamon) and the House Sports Captains (Ethan, Manuka, Jordan and Mila) repeating the athletes declaration and oath. Students then watched some highlights of the Sydney 2000 Olympics and different Olympic events.

Each House is represented by a country that was selected by the House Captains:

All students will compete in some Olympic activities during their P.E. lessons and sports sessions. Points will be scored then added together for a winning House/country, which will be announced at a future Assembly.

Year 6 Winter Inter-School Sport

Year 6 students competed in weekly Friday sport during Term 2 against Wheelers Hill, Jells Park, Burwood East and Mount Waverley Primary Schools, and Mount Scopus Memorial College.

Students demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship and developed their skills.

A huge thanks to the following community members who helped with the teams:  Audrey Lau (Netball), Sid Shekar (AFL) and Ryan Boles (Soccer). Your assistance was greatly appreciated!

District Girls Soccer Gala Day

22 students represented EHPS at the Monash Heights District Girls' Soccer Gala Day on Tuesday 25 June at Brentwood Reserve in Glen Waverley. The day of round-robin matches, provided the girls with the opportunity to participate in a competitive sports environment.

We competed in the Girls’ Soccer Gala Day at the end of last term, on Tuesday 25 June. Two teams of Year 6 girls competed in eight games of soccer on Brentwood Reserve, near Wheelers Hill Primary School.

We would like to thank Miss Boles and Ms Hocking for supporting us on that day, plus the parents who came to support us.

We all practised hard in preparation for the day. Our A team was successful in making it to play in the Monash Waverley Division final on Tuesday 6 August.

Congratulations to all the girls who competed and for representing Essex Heights Primary. Good luck to the girls participating at Division.

Australian Gymnastics Championships

I competed in the Australian Gymnastics Championships which took place on the Gold Coast. It was my first time competing in a national competition; however, I performed very well and had a great experience. I completed four routines (free, clubs, ball, and hoop) and placed 12th in the all-around in a tough category. Also, Team Victoria came in second place. I have already started training for next season.
