String Solo Soiree #3 Thursday 6th June

The third and final concert of the 2024 IPS String Solo Soirees was held on Thursday 6th June. Here is what some of the performers have written about the event:

On the 6th of June our school had solo soirees. It was spread over 3 days. At the solo soiree all string students played an instrumental piece as a solo. It took place in the collaboration space. There were so many families watching and it was great to play in front of them. I did my first solo and was nervous but I pushed through and did my best. At first it was almost like I couldn’t move my arms but when I got up I still tried my hardest and played my song, The Enchanted Forest. It was so fun and afterwards I felt so proud and relieved. Everyone was sitting in order waiting for their turn to play and I was next to my friend so we both encouraged each other. It was so exciting to see each other play their own song. I will remember this night for a long time.

I love how each musician got their own spotlight in the solo concert. We all had an unforgettable experience. I attended two concerts last week. At my brother Daniel’s concert, I sat back and enjoyed the wonderful tunes. On the night of my performance, I was really nervous and focused intensely on the song. Music is so magical; it can make us sit still like a stone yet feel like we’re visiting spectacular lands, evoking so many different emotions in our hearts. Thanks to Margaret and all the music teachers for making this happen!

Last Thursday evening, lots of parents and families attended the Solo Soiree Concert. There were 28 successful performances! The students played either cello or violin. We also had a piano accompaniment, Anna, who played in some songs.

When it was my turn to play I felt a bit nervous and excited at the same time as this was my first time performing solo but as soon as I started playing, I felt confident. Our audience was really supportive and cheered us up with their clapping after every turn. At the end of all the performances, the teachers came together to play an incredible song.

Overall, it was a fun night with some awesome performances!! It was a great learning experience for me. I am excited to keep practicing and improving so that my next performance will be even better.
