Week 2, Term 3
Based on student feedback, we are implementing a minor change to the Grade 3-4 Homework routine for this term.
A suggested homework schedule for the upcoming term is listed below:
READING: no change. Expectation is ~2 hours per week, recorded in the Reading Journal and signed by a parent. Given the importance of time spent reading, students who do not submit their Reading Journal will be provided time on Fridays to catch up.
MATHEMATICS: Think Mentals is available to students who want further opportunities to strengthen their understanding and accuracy with Mathematics outside of school hours. Times Tables Rockstars is also available.
WRITING: The Talk Homework is a part of our VCOP Writing Program that supports students to have success in fortnightly Big Writes. We will continue to provide Talk Homework handouts each fortnight.
The 3/4 Log Cabin Camp in Ballarat is fast approaching. It will be taking place in the last week of term on Wednesday the 18th of September and will go until Friday the 20th of September.
During this camp the students will be heading to Sovereign Hill on the first day, then we will make our way to Log Cabin Camp for the remainder of the trip. The children will also be housed in dormitory type accommodation with cabins.
During Parent Teacher interviews your child should have received a packing list and a medical form for camp. If you could please return that form to your child’s teacher as soon as possible that would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions at all regarding camp, please contact your child's teacher directly. Thankyou!
Mathematics: In our Applied Maths sessions, students will be exploring how to interpret and evaluate different types of graphs. In Fluid Groups, we will continue to look at 'Time' before moving onto 'Subtraction'.
Writing & Reading: Students have done such a fantastic job of completing their information reports about their chosen Olympic athlete and sport! This fortnight we will be looking at narratives and their key features including: character and setting descriptions, punctuation and connectives.
Topic: Students have made a great start to our new topic - 'First Contact'. This fortnight we will be exploring different cultures and looking at historical artefacts to learn about the past.
