Year 10 Leisure Education Semester 1 students had the honour and privilege of meeting Paralympian and Wheel Talk presenter Peter Ogunyemi who shared his incredible journey of living with a disability. The students were given a dynamic and interactive experience playing Wheelchair Basketball, whilst gaining valuable insights from Peter about the importance of inclusivity and breaking down social misconceptions about living with a disability.
Year 10 elective Leisure Education is a practical and theoretical insight into the role of leisure and recreational pursuits for a range of different groups within the community. It also provides students with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in a wide variety of leisure and recreation-based activities which they could choose to pursue. One of the most pleasing aspects of this subject are the partnerships which are built with various community organisations and the associated positive learning outcomes for our students. Some activities which have been conducted in Semester 1 include Martial Arts, Surfing, Scuba Diving, Rock Climbing, Yoga, Bubble Soccer, and Sports for People with Disability.
