Webinars about more options for your child in Years 10 to 12

Join a webinar to learn about the VCE Vocational Major, Victorian Pathways Certificate and VET.  Senior secondary education in Victoria has changed. There are more options than ever for your child in Years 10 to 12.

If your child is in Years 9 or 10, join this webinar to learn more about how they can pursue their goals in senior secondary education. The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and Department of Education will talk through:

• the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM)• VCE VM Work Related Skills and VCE VM Personal Development Skills studies• the Victorian Pathways Certificate• more vocational education and training (VET) for school students• key career education activities in government schools.

About the VCE Vocational Major

The VCE Vocational Major is a 2-year applied learning program within the VCE. It supports students to pursue their goals and aspirations with confidence and provides them with skills and knowledge for work and life.

Completing the VCE Vocational Major means:

• being ready to take on more learning after school, especially at TAFE or in an apprenticeship or traineeship• working towards one or more vocational education and training (VET) qualifications• having an employability edge after school.  The VCE Vocational Major is available at our school.

For the first time next year, two studies in the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) program – VCE VM Work Related Skills and VCE VM Personal Development Skills – will be available to any VCE student to include in their VCE.

About the Victorian Pathways Certificate

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is a flexible Year 11 and Year 12 course designed for a small number of students who, for a range of reasons, are not able or ready to undertake the VCE or the VCE VM. Suitability for the VPC is based on agreement between the student, their parents and the school.

About VET for school students

Your child can work towards one or more VET certificates in their VCE (including the Vocational Major) or VPC program.

VET is learning where your child will develop targeted and practical skills. The skills they learn relate to a career pathway, so they can apply them at work or in further education and training.

About career education in government schools

We provide a career education program that helps your child make important decisions about their future. It will include opportunities for self-discovery, exploration of industries and careers, setting goals and making career plans.
