Year 12 Leavers: Farewell and God Bless!
Last week was the final week of school for our Year 12s, and what a time of celebration it was! We don't do things by halves at LCS, that's for sure.
Monday was the last normal school uniform day, followed by Time Travel Tuesday where students came dressed as their future self. Wear your name Wednesday saw students dressing in an outfit linked with their name, and for Throwback Thursday they donned old school uniforms from middle and primary school to walk through the gates with their parents, just as they did for their first day of school. Fictional Friday ended the festivities with a BBQ breakfast and then a Book Week-style parade for primary students, and zooper doopers.
The day ended with a special message from our SLC over the PA - expressing thanks on behalf of the cohort and an encouragement to "persevere in the journey you are on". They shared from 1 Peter 1:6...
"Be truly glad, there is wonderful joy ahead."
Amen!
We asked a handful of leavers to share one of the highlights of their time at LCS:
"Year 7 with Mrs Armstrong. That year was all fun with learning."
– Benjamin Pollis
"The Canberra trip, because I made strong bonds and found my place, having only come to LCS in Year 11."
– Zoe Miller
"My friends."
– Lea Kibbel
"I've really loved English Studio class. Mr Jansen is a very dedicated and caring teacher, so invested in the subject and his students."
– Isabella Geskus
"TRJ in Year 9 with Mr McGeachy, and getting the chance to get to know everyone on a deeper level."
– Josh Dean
"Definitely outdoor education and woodwork. The canyoning experience was a blast and a great note to end the year on."
– Reuben Torlach
Primary Athletics Carnival
Our Year 3-6 students had a wonderful day competing in the Primary Athletics Carnival recently at St Leonards. We had the most spectacularly sunny day, and it was delightful to see competitors giving it their best to add points to their house tally. We like to remind students that simply by participating in an event, they earn a point for their team!
Melaleuca came out front this time, followed by Barrow and then Tamar.
Congratulations to carnival champions:
Year 3 –> Zahli van den Berg and Finn Loef.
Year 4 –> Stephanie Dickson, Chloe Myers and George Hammond.
Year 5 –> Bonnie Myers and Darcy Moore.
Year 6 –> Emmeline Blok and Eli Locke.
K-2 Athletics Fun Afternoon
Our Kindergarten-Year 2 students had a fabulous time running and throwing and balancing and working as teams for our Fun Afternoon on Monday. Look at all the expressions of concentration!
Cradle Canyons Trip
It was thrilling. It was challenging. And it was a memory that Year 11 and 12 Outdoor Education students will likely cherish for the rest of their lives.
The 21 students in Mr Armstrong and Mr Macqueen's classes embarked on the final excursion for the year with adventure guides from Cradle Mountain Canyoning, camping in tents nearby the night before. They started at 9am on the Saturday morning and didn't finish until 4pm, trekking into Machinery Creek Canyon, wading between waterfalls and abseiling down 20-30 metre drops.
Students' trust and endurance were tested over and over again as they had to rely on the equipment and guides as they abseiled over, beside and through each waterfall. The last and biggest waterfall of the day was Petrifying Falls - which is a rather telling name!
"That was the best trip of the year!" was the most common comment, credited not only to the incredible adventure itself, but to the mild, sunny conditions. And Frankie made friends with a random chicken, so there was that too!
It's so wonderful to see our students enjoying the outdoors and appreciating the grandeur of God's creation.
Seeing Pink!
Thank you for embracing Pink Day during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for helping us raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, an incredibly worthwhile cause. Not only did students arrive decked out in the pinkest of pinks, but Year 9 student Josiah Poole agreed to have his lovely locks snipped in solidarity with those who have experienced breast cancer.
The McGrath Foundation currently funds 233 McGrath Breast Care Nurses, across Australia, who have provided care and support to over 143,000 families since 2005. Ongoing fundraising supports the foundation's mission to ensure that every family going through breast cancer has access to a McGrath Breast Care Nurse.

Important Reminder: Parking @ Windsor Oval in Term 4
We are incredibly grateful to the council for generously providing us with parking at Windsor Oval, ensuring our community has convenient access to LCS. However, Windsor Park Precinct is resurfacing the football oval, which will impact drop-off and pick-up throughout Term 4.
Temporary Parking Update:
- Parents can now drop off and pick up on the cricket club room side of the oval (previously no-parking).
- The usual parking area will be closed.
The left-hand (west) side of the oval will be inaccessible, please use the right-hand (east) side of the oval for pick up / drop off.
We ask all families to follow this plan during the renovations.
If it is convenient for you, please consider parking on the highway or at Riverbank.
Important note: During Term 4 there will be times when the oval is completely inaccessible, and we will communicate these dates in advance with alternate parking instructions. Please take careful note of any correspondence from us regarding parking this term.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
