Week 5 & 6 Updates
Spanish
¡Hola familias!
What an amazing time we had at this year’s Spanish Fiesta! It was truly wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enthusiastic about learning and celebrating El Día de los Muertos(The Day of the Dead).
Our day was packed with a variety of workshops, each one offering a unique experience that brought Mexican culture to life in fun and meaningful ways. In the Mexican Dancing Workshop, students learned traditional Mexican steps and danced together, experiencing the rhythms and colors of Mexican folkloric dance. Our Mexican Master Chef Cooking Workshop was a big hit, with our Mexican chef Edi, as students rolled up their sleeves to make delicious guacamole and tried some agua de Jamaica. The Craft Workshop was another highlight too. Students sculpted their own clay skulls, embracing the vibrant, symbolic art that represents El Día de los Muertos. And let’s not forget the Azteca Sport Workshop, where students learned about an ancient ball game called Ulama.
And to finish our beautiful day, we all gathered for our Mexican Assembly, where students showed off their incredible costumes and face paintings in a vibrant school parade. The atmosphere was unforgettable, with everyone singing along to the sounds of the Mariachi Vanessa. It truly felt like we were in Mexico!
I couldn’t be prouder of our students and school community for their enthusiasm and openness to learning about other cultures and embracing the Spanish language. You made this year’s Spanish Fiesta a celebration to remember. I can’t wait to see what next year’s Spanish Fiesta will bring! Which Spanish-speaking country will we explore together next year? Sports Day for the Prep - 3 students will be held on Friday the 22nd of November
Swimming 3-6
Students have been having a blast at Sunshine Leisure Centre for the swimming program! Enjoying some fun play whilst honing their swim technique.
STEM
Students in Prep - Grade 2 are continuing to deepen their understanding of algorithms and have used block code to change scenes automatically. Check out some of the examples below! Students in Grade 3 and 4 are developing their STEM skills by choosing one specific skill to focus on each week.
Grade 5 and 6 students are starting to finalise their mock websites! An important feature of a website is navigation and below are some examples that show how we have considered navigation when creating a home page. Students have created hyperlinks to different pages so it is easier for the user to move around their site. A fantastic effort by all!
