David's Message

Dear Sunshine Heights Parents and Carers,

Our newsletter has come to you a week late for a really special reason - we were delaying to see how our students performed in the FUSE Cup on the Gold Coast. Kaylee, Kayla, Ruby, Sarah and Bentley all went to represent our school and area in the Just Dance competition. On Friday they performed brilliantly and won the Victoria State Final, coming first. On Saturday they did brilliantly again, and were pipped by just 9 points coming second in the country! We are so proud of the team, and a huge thank you to the parents for taking them up to the Gold Coast so they could compete. This was the result of lots of lunchtime practices, and supported by the fundraising from our community to pay for their flights up to Queensland. Congratulations Team Sunny Heights!

Our school is proud to focus in on the best evidence and researched based approaches to improving Reading, Writing and Numeracy. What I love about our community is that we also search for amazing learning experiences outside this that create life-long memories. From involvement in the FUSE Cup and E-Sports,  our School Performance, camps and excursions, all the way through to everything our incredible specialist team put together with whole school events, we know that the opportunities at primary school can shape our students' lives well into the future. All of these opportunities though do happen thanks to the support of our parents. Shortly we will be sending out our voluntary contributions and book pack information for 2025. We have kept this at $180 with $90 for the book pack to supply all your child's books, stationery and resources, and $90 for Curriculum and Non-curriculum consumables. A full breakdown of this information will come out on compass in the coming weeks, ready for 2025.

Separately, you may now have received an email from the department regarding the $400 School Saving Bonus for students enrolled in government schools. Not all of these emails have yet come out from the department, and we are informed if any of these have bounced back, however please do check your junk filter to ensure this has not been missed. After the 28th November, parents will be emailed further instructions and a code to allow you to log in to your account. The money can be used towards uniform, incursions and excursions, swimming programs and camps. This money cannot be used for book packs. Further information is available at the link below, and we will send out additional information in the coming weeks via compass.

Please stay cool this weekend, and check out compass for information about the Festive Concert and Art Show.

Best wishes,
