Term 4 - The Performance Term
November and December are busy times for the music department. While it sometimes feels like the school is winding down for summer holidays, music students have no time to relax as we move into our busiest time of the year. It is important everyone attends scheduled rehearsals on time and continues to do some home practice. Every member of the ensembles has a responsibility to do their best.
A number of instruments are being left in the music centre storeroom. We would like students to take their instruments home, especially over the weekends when there might be more time to play them.
As the weather warms up, it is worth reminding students to bring water bottles to afternoon rehearsals and have a snack before the rehearsal starts.
2025 Re-enrolment
The 2025 re-enrolment forms will be going out with the booklists. We ask families to fill these out and return these as promptly as possible so we can move forward with 2025 planning. Hire forms will be sent separately with the outstanding instrument cost.
If families have any queries, please contact Kim Green in the music department.
Students thinking of joining the music program next year should get their enrolment form in this year. Extra enrolment forms can be obtained from the music centre.
What Music Makes Us Feel Good?
Earlier in the year we asked students to let us know what music made them feel good. A sheet was put up in the music centre for students and staff to collect their favourite ‘feel good’ music. We were overwhelmed with good ideas. See a small sample below. Full collection is displayed in the music centre.
- Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
- Talking To The Moon - Bruno Mars
- Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
- The Pines of Rome - Respighi
- Waterloo or SOS - Abba
- Anything by Mozart
- Sunny Hill - Mia Dyson
- You Are My Sunshine
- Daffodils - Perch Creek
- Earthsong - Frank Tichelli
- Lucky Chops - Full Heart Fancy
- Tchaikovsky - Symphony No 6, 3rd Movement
- Blind Eye - Hunters and Collectors
