Congratulations to all the staff and students who contributed to a successful Arts and Technology Week!
On Tuesday morning, we kicked off the week with our "Women in Tech" Breakfast, featuring an inspiring talk by Kellie King, Principal Development and Communication Coordinator from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology at UQ. Kellie highlighted how technology can be harnessed to solve real-world problems and engaged our students and staff in discussions about diverse career opportunities in this ever-evolving field.
Throughout the week, we celebrated creativity with various activities, including live music from the FCIP Big Band, visual arts projects, a sustainable foods workshop, and a captivating drama performance. It was a fantastic way to showcase the incredible subjects available here at Mount Alvernia College.
The highlight of the week was our annual art show, Arti, held on Friday. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement! The quality of student artwork continues to impress, as many students used their creativity in such sophisticated ways to address important social justice issues. We are immensely proud of the exceptional work our students have created this year.
A special congratulations goes to Sienna Muir, Ella Chun, Grace Walker, and Amelie Francey, whose artworks are displayed at the Brisbane Metro Exhibition this week. Notably, Ella Chun's piece was shortlisted for the 2024 Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art, and she received a commendation for her outstanding work—an incredible achievement for both Ella and Mount Alvernia College.
