Today, I want to discuss something vital to your academic journey: academic integrity. Being honest in your work is not just about following rules; it’s about building character and respecting the hard work of others.
When you submit work, it’s essential that it truly reflects your understanding and effort. If you use AI tools or any other resources, you must acknowledge them properly. Pretending someone else’s work is your own doesn’t help you grow—it only fools yourself. Remember, your teachers know you well. They can tell when a piece of work doesn’t match your style or capabilities.
Cheating, whether on a test or a project, robs you of the opportunity to learn. The consequences are serious: if you breach our Academic Integrity Policy, you may receive anything from a verbal or written warning to losing marks for your work. Academic integrity is not just about avoiding punishment; it’s about being true to yourself and your education.
Moreover, we are committed to guiding you on the ethical use of technology. As you navigate the digital world, it’s important to use tools like AI responsibly and in a way that complements your learning rather than undermines it. The IB offers a great resource called "Understanding academic integrity" that can help you better understand these concepts.
Let’s commit to being honest in our academic efforts and using technology responsibly. Your education is a journey, and integrity will be your guide.
