LEADERSHIP TEAM

Mr. Justin Matt, Mr. Brad Vallance, Mr. Josh Willersdorf

Dear Parents, Guardians and students,

As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to mention the many accomplishments and upcoming milestones of our students and staff.

At our recent whole school assembly, we honoured our Year 12 students, who are now in the midst of completing their final exams. We celebrated their efforts and resilience and took this moment to reflect on their journeys. This assembly also marked an exciting announcement for the school as we introduced our 2025 School Captains Raya Robb & Jamaine Lawson-Chapman. I look forward to seeing their leadership unfold next year.

Congratulations are also in order for our students excelling in sports. Isabell Alchin, one of our students, has achieved the following results in the State Athletics Championships: 1st in her 200m sprint, 2nd in her 100m sprint and 4th in her 400m sprint, we also had Angel Gowers recently showcased her gymnastic talents, impressing judges and spectators at the Vic Championships. We are all proud of these students for representing our community with such dedication and skill.

The recent Arts & Technology Evening was another highlight, with an incredible turnout. It was wonderful to see so many families, staff, and students come together to celebrate creativity, innovation, and technical skill.  From stunning art pieces and performances to innovative tech projects and amazing food, the level of talent on display was truly inspiring, reflecting the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers.

Our partnership with Backcourt in 2025 will bring an exciting new dimension to Basketball in our Sports Academy, providing students with an enriched, high-performance training environment. Through Backcourt’s expertise in athlete development, our academy students will benefit from tailored coaching sessions, access to advanced sports analytics, and cutting-edge training techniques designed to refine their skills, strategy, and game awareness. This collaboration not only aims to boost students' on-court capabilities but also focuses on building their confidence, discipline, and resilience, essential traits for success in competitive sports. With Backcourt’s partnership, we’re committed to offering a comprehensive program that prepares our athletes for future athletic and academic pathways.

As we head into a short week next week, please remember that Monday, 4th November, 2024 will be a pupil-free day as staff participate in their Professional Practice Day. This break aligns with Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, 5th November, 2024, making for a brief but important rest for everyone.

As temperatures start to rise, I encourage everyone to stay hydrated. Students and staff are reminded to bring water bottles to school, ensuring they’re prepared and ready to engage in every class to the fullest. We encourage all students to stay alert as temperatures rise, as this often leads to increased snake sightings on school grounds. Please remember to report any sightings to a staff member immediately and keep a safe distance from the snakes.

Finally, a reminder about the importance of regular attendance. Each day at school is valuable, and maintaining routine not only strengthens learning but also helps students stay connected. Missing classes can make it more challenging to stay on track, so let’s continue working together to keep attendance strong as we close out the year.

Thank you to all families, students, and staff for your ongoing commitment to making our school a supportive and successful environment for everyone.

Kind regards,

Justin Matt
