Hello Gympie, East parents, carers and community,
We have had an excellent Book Week this week with a visit from the Town Library on Tuesday, our Dress Up day on Wednesday and culminating in the Rap, Ryme and Rocking Poetry at 2pm today. It is fantastic to celebrate reading as we know a love of reading is so vital in nurturing lifelong learners. Well done to everyone who made the effort to dress up, especially two parents (Wicked Witch & Ghostbuster) not to mention the Wiggles Staff who drove into parade in their Big Red Car to steal the show! We will be announcing the winners of our Premier's Reading Challenge next week.
Today, you will receive an email about our Term 3 Parent/Teacher Interviews which are student-led. We trialled this last year and decided to do it again as it seemed popular. Four families at a time will be in the classroom and students will lead their parents through a checklist to show what they have been working on. Students will discuss their learning goals, show how they use the Bump-It-Up Wall, go through their book work and describe what they are working on. Each conference block lasts for 20 minutes with a 10-minute changeover period in between. Parents will have an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher but the onus is on the student to lead the conference. Parents will also get to give feedback on two things they are really proud of and a goal they would like to see their child strive for (2 Stars and a wish). Please log in when you receive your email and book a timeslot, contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or cannot make the day/time.
Grandparents Day - our annual Grandparents Day is getting closer. This week students were writing invitations to a Grandparent or Special Person in their life. We are asking parents to please support us by providing a plate for afternoon tea. Your child's class teacher will be able to provide you with information about the type of food to bring in. Thankyou for your support!
Thankyou to our wonderful P&C for their work at the Trivia Night. It was a big hit and raised a lot of money for our school. There were many P&C members who put in hours upon hours of organisation, cooking and preparation to ensure that it was a fantastic night and I am extremely appreciative of their efforts. Well done!
Thanks
