Fathers’ Day Mass and Morning Tea Invitation

The College’s Fathers’ Day Masses will take place on Friday 5 September in the College Gymnasium. All fathers, grandfathers and father figures are welcome to celebrate with their sons. (No mothers, siblings outside of SPC or others.)

Due to space restrictions, there are two Masses based on Houses, which are rotated each for fairness. If you cannot make your allocated Mass, we hope you can make it next year and that you can enjoy Mass with your sons in your parishes on Sunday 7 September. (We cannot switch people around, sorry.)

  • 7:45 AM Mass is for families in Hanrahan, Hickey and Rice

  • 9:30 AM Mass is for families in Berg, Coghlan and Crichton.

If you would like to do a reading or be a Eucharistic Minister or take on another role, please indicate on the form below by Monday 25 August at the latest.

All fathers and father figures are invited to a Morning Tea hosted by the P&F at 8:45 AM between the two Masses. Venue to be advised.

Please RSVP via the following link below so we can collate numbers for seating, communion and morning tea.

Alice Springs Immersion 2025 – Learning and Loving

In the recent term break, a group of nine Year 11 boys, accompanied by Mr Biviano and Mr Wallace, had the exciting opportunity of going on the Alice Springs Immersion. The main part of our experience was spending a week with the fellas and ladies from St. Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre, with whom we got to develop genuine relationships, having open conversations and bonding over interests such as sport, music and more. Although most of the students endured harsh living conditions in decrepit circumstances one worker described as “almost impossible to escape”, they came to the Flexi with a positive energy and eagerness to share culture.

Over the week, we spent time on Country with the Fellas, and they shared traditional Arrente (their Country/community) stories, such as the mountain ranges being formed by caterpillars, and other cultural knowledge. We got to make bush medicine with the Aunties who had boundless wisdom to share, learned language, went ‘bush-bashing’, and also prepared, cooked and ate Kangaroo tail which was delicious. A key experience was the cultural awareness session, run by the Arrente locals, Jodi and Armani, in which we discussed Aboriginal history and the impacts of colonisation, cultural traditions, and environmental stewardship. Their discussions about goals for their culture, which begin with ally-ship and truth-telling, rooted in strong faith and love, were inspiring. The Immersion, which also included a three-day trip to see Uluru, Kata Tjuṯa and King’s Canyon, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience which greatly impacted myself and all others who attended.

St Patrick’s Parish, Mortlake

If you are in the parish of St Patrick’s, Mortlake, there are lots of opportunities to serve the parish and, in turn, earn SOL Service points. Check out some options for you -  Volunteering Opportunities – St Patrick's Catholic Parish Mortlake.

In conjunction with this, Fr Tom seeks help from students in Years 9 and 10 to do odd jobs around the parish in the holidays, all contributing to service hours. See the details in the image below.

If you’re in another parish, go and see what is on offer for you to serve or just offer your help. You might notice something that needs fixing or doing, so offer. It helps you with SOL Service, but more importantly, it builds community and connection.
