Welcome back to a brand new term! We’re thrilled to see our students return with such enthusiasm, and our teachers are equally excited for the learning adventures ahead. Reading
This term, students will be diving into the world of non-fiction texts. They’ll be learning to:
- Identify key features such as contents pages and headings, and understand how these help us navigate information
- Ask thoughtful questions before, during, and after reading
- Use prior knowledge to make predictions about a text
- Summarise important ideas in the correct order to build comprehension
Writing
In writing, students will continue to develop their skills by:
- Enhancing their weekend recounts with more detail and structure
- Creating informative reports about different animals
- Practising the full writing process: drafting, editing, revising, and publishing
Mathematics
This term’s maths lessons will focus on:
- Multiplication strategies using concrete materials, arrays, and grouping
- Division concepts explored through arrays and bar models
- Investigating 3D shapes and their properties
Inquiry
Our inquiry unit will take students beyond the classroom:
- We’ll be exploring our local community with walks around Roxburgh Park
- Students will map their routes and record observations from their walks, building awareness of their surroundings
