Welcome back to another fun filled term. We have many special experiences planned for our preps this term such as the 100 days of school celebration and book week parade.
Social and Emotional Learning
In Social and Emotional Learning, students will:
- continue learning about respectful relationships and how to treat others kindly
- learn how to resolve conflicts respectfully
- build resilience so they can help themselves cope with upsetting experiences.
Inquiry
In Inquiry students will:
- understand what toys are, their purpose and compare them
- categorise different types of toys into different groups based on their features
- create different types of toys.
Numeracy
In numeracy students will:
- continue learning to count up to 20 and backwards to 0
- learn to count to 100
- consolidate their ability to read and write numerals accurately
- represent numerals to 20 with materials
- identify one more and less than a certain number
- compare and order numbers to 10 and 20 accurately
- identify the attributes of length and compare the length of two objects
- identify the attributes of mass and compare the mass of two objects using hefting
- begin to learn a range of addition and subtraction-based concepts and strategies
Literacy
In Reading students will:
- learn to identify Non-Fiction texts and their features
- begin to summarise the important information from Non-Fiction texts
- continue developing their word solving strategies
- begin to build fluency so their reading sounds smooth.
In Writing students will:
- continue writing recounts of personal experiences
- continue learning how to identify the letters of the alphabet and how to write them
- learn how to write key facts about and include relevant features in non-fiction topics
- begin to add more detail in their writing
- continue learning how to include appropriate punctuation in their writing such as capital letters and full stops.
In Phonics student will:
- continue segmenting and blending short phonetic words
- write dictated sentences
- learn to read and spell High Frequency Words.
Reminders
- School starts at 8:50am and ends at 3:10pm
- Please bring a water bottle and a healthy packed lunch every day
- Please practice the Just Right books and High Frequency Words every night
- Please make sure all students come to school with warm clothing
Book Week is in week 5 and the book parade is on Thursday the 21st of August
