Senior Gala Day #2

Well it was another hot one for the senior students but with thanks to the PE co-ordinators of the event, we were able to modify the game day schedule and games for the students to still be able to participate. We would like to congratulate all students on their fantastic efforts and wish the following teams the best of luck as they were District Premiers and have progressed through to Division, which will be later in the year:

Girls Volleybounce

Girls Cricket A Team

Also, a big thank you to all staff and parent helpers, who assisted with organising, managing, scoring and coaching our teams!

National Ride2School Day:

National Ride2School Day is on Friday 21st March, 2025. National Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel and one of the best days on the school calendar. Let’s discover the joy of riding and kick-start healthy habits for the future. Students can ride, scoot, skate or walk to school. Remember to wear a helmet if riding. Students in Prep – Year 3 must be accompanied by an adult. You can park and leave your bike or scooter at school for the day in the following areas:

From 8:30am

Prep-2 – Turf area (sections will be set up)

Year 3-6 – Bike shed and senior courtyard area (sections will be set up)

2024 Environment and Sustainability Annual Report

Each year, as a member of the ResourceSmart School network, our school gets a report card on how we are going.

We are pleased to report that once again we have met our targets and stayed below the benchmarks for resource and energy use that the Victorian Department of Sustainability sets for schools.

In real terms this means that in the last year we have saved;

By recycling and composting, the landfill we produce is less than half of the benchmark.

With March 18 being Global Recycling day, give a thought to your rubbish, gross as it may be and maybe read this article I found in the House of Wellness about recycling blister packs at Chemist Warehouse.

Here at CHPS we collect our old batteries at the office, these are taken down to Officeworks where there are recycling bins. Our IT gurus make sure all our E-Waste is sent to the appropriate companies for breakdown and re-use, a service the local councils offer to residents too.

Of course, most of us know that there is always more we all can do, but it can be hard to know how and where. Often things we want to  put in recycling we can't, such as Juice box Tetra packs, which are accepted by the Container Deposit Scheme but not by many council recycling programs.

Remember Think Global but Act Local, small changes do make a difference.

Callout for any parents who might be able to arrange printing on corflute. We are after a large iceberg as one of our props. Please email roslawrence@optusnet.com.au if you are able to assist.

Lost Property

Welcome to the 2025 school year.

We would like to ask all families to check that all school uniforms, hats, drink bottles, lunch containers, sports items etc are clearly labelled with your child’s SURNAME and first name/initial. This includes all handed down clothing that needs updated names.

We check the lost property cupboard every week and return any items clearly labelled to the classrooms.

The year has started with a lot of lost property in the cupboard that we have been unable to return to its owner.

Anything named has already been sorted and returned however if anyone is still missing school uniform, hats, drink bottles, lunch boxes and an assortment of casual clothing, please check lost property for it.

The lost property cupboard is located at the end of the corridor near the main office or accessed via the corridor between the junior and senior school.

Thank you

Fiona & Meagan

Please ensure all health support plans and allergy plans etc. are returned to the office by next week.
