Miss Mel's Message
Principal - St Brigid's Primary School
It has been a busy few weeks, and I have missed being among the students, staff, and families at St Brigid’s. My time away has been spent engaging in valuable professional learning, including a two-day Principal Network gathering for the Outer North West Region and a MACS Northern Region professional development focused on vision for instruction and embedding best practices across our schools, along with other system requirement meetings. These experiences are always enriching, but it’s always great to return and see the wonderful things happening in our school. A huge thank you to our amazing staff for ensuring everything runs smoothly in my absence.
I’m excited to share that we are now the proud owners of an adjacent property to St Brigid’s! This new space will be incorporated into our master plan for the school’s growth and development, ensuring we continue to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.
I also ask that you keep Petrina and her family in your prayers. She has taken leave to travel home to Ireland to be with her mother, who is unwell. As always, I am grateful for the care and support our community extends to those in need.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Prayer
Pope Francis has declared a Jubilee Year of Hope in 2025. A Jubilee is a special year of grace and conversion, involving prayer, pilgrimage and sacramental repentance, held every 25 years, or during other years as called for by the Pope. The goal of a Jubilee year is to inspire and encourage holiness of life among the faithful and therefore to strengthen the Church’s witness to God’s loving mercy in and for the world.
For us in our St. Brigid’s community, we aim to explore this notion of “Hope” and what we can do in our daily lives to be “hopeful” people in our relationships with each other, with the world around us and in our connection to our faith. Life’s pilgrimage does not always go smoothly. Often the circumstances of daily life and events in the wider world require a greater call to hope. We are always in need of hope, especially in our moments of greatest need.
We appreciate everyone’s support in following the new parking routines for drop-off and pick-up, helping to keep traffic moving smoothly and ensuring children exit safely and efficiently. A special thank you to Trish Armstrong for her support in embedding safe practices at drop-off times. We will continue to have a staff member on the gate to ensure the continuation of these routines. We understand the challenges with limited parking spaces during peak times and are actively exploring options to ease congestion. This will also be a topic of discussion at the Advisory Council meeting on March 25th. If you have any suggestions, we welcome your input as we work towards a better solution for our school community.
Congratulations to Steph, Dev and August on the happy arrival of their gorgeous new little son and little brother Avery Jack William Webb, born 20th February. We are looking forward to Avery’s first visit to St. Brigid’s for love, cuddles and celebrations. It is fabulous to hear that he is thriving and growing bigger everyday and that Steph is besotted and cherishing her time with her little miracle.
We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Sonia Danister, her husband Dumith and Emily & Ava on the passing of their beloved father and Grandfather, Marino Chiarelli on Wednesday 26th February, 2025. Please keep the Danisters in your hearts and prayers.
Teamwork makes the dream work and we are in need of a fabulous team to complete a variety of maintenance and gardening projects around our school yard. If you can offer any amount of time between 8am-12 noon we welcome any contributions to our efforts. See Emma for any questions, queries or ideas.
On a side note, if anyone is or has a close friend or family member willing to help with a paving project or tiling project outside of this time (to be repaid in enormous gratitude and copious amounts of love for their efforts) please contact Emma (0408 339 642) for details.
