Shining Stars at WHS:

Over three days recently, Heidi has been competing in the Auckland Diving Championships (with a strong contingent joining from the Waikato).  In one of her events, Heidi competed (for the first time) at the highest grade difficulty available for 11 & under in NZ, excitedly coming away with 2nd place (having had to learn two new dives in two weeks to be able to compete at this level).

For Heidi's other two events, she placed 1st in both and scored second-highest for the age group above her own.  The NZ Nationals are in July, by which time Heidi is hoping to be able to compete at the highest grade for all her events.

Living in Western Heights and so close to West Wave, we are extremely lucky to have such amazing diving facilities at our figurative doorstep.  Diving is a fantastic sport for any water-loving children who may want the opportunity to develop at their own pace, yet still have the sociable atmosphere and community of a team sport.

Auckland Diving has an inclusive Primary School Champs at the end of each year, and it would be wonderful to see Western Heights Primary School have enough divers to be able to enter a team this year or next!

Lucas placed in the Under 8 Free Ski category at his competition.

Yu Xi had a birthday recently and she provided a small present for everyone in her class. When I took her birthday card to her room, Yu Xi also gave me a present - super cool toys that I can pin to my backpack when I travel.
