From the Principal's Desk

Heavenly Father, I’m truly sorry for the moments today when I failed to Step Up. I ask for your forgiveness and the strength to better follow Your call tomorrow. May Your light guide my day, and your spirit bring me peace. Amen.
Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday: A Time for Reflection and Tradition
Next week, our school community will celebrate two important days in the Christian calendar: Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, marks the day before the season of Lent begins. Traditionally, it’s a day for people to use up rich foods like eggs, milk, and sugar before the period of fasting begins. In many countries, this is celebrated with delicious pancake feasts; our classes will have pancakes on Tuesday, March 4th. This will be a fun way to learn about this important time in the church calendar and enjoy a delicious treat before the season of Lent starts.
The following day, Ash Wednesday, the season of Lent begins. It is a time for self-reflection, prayer, and repentance. Ash Wednesday liturgies will be held for those who wish to observe the day, with the ritual of receiving ashes on the forehead as a symbol of humility and remembrance of our mortality. This marks the start of the 40 days of Lent, leading up to the Easter season.
Both Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday offer a chance to reflect on our lives, think about ways we can grow to become better people, and come together as a school community to embrace these important traditions.
We look forward to sharing these moments with our students and staff, creating memories and fostering a spirit of reflection, compassion, and unity.
Student Leadership: Empowering the Next Generation
At our school, student leadership plays a crucial role in shaping a positive and inclusive environment. We believe that every student has the potential to be a leader, whether in the classroom, outside the classroom or in the wider school community.
Our student leaders take on important responsibilities that range from leading school assemblies to organising events and supporting younger students. They are role models who inspire their peers through kindness, responsibility, respect, resilience and safety. Whether they are part of our student council, mentoring programs, or special committees, our leaders work hard to ensure that every voice is heard and that our school community thrives.
This year, we are proud to have a new group of student leaders who are already making a difference. They are organising initiatives that focus on creating a more sustainable and inclusive school environment, promoting mental health awareness, and celebrating our community. These efforts not only strengthen our community but also provide valuable leadership experience that will benefit the students throughout their lives.
We encourage all students to get involved in leadership opportunities, big or small. By stepping up, they not only develop essential life skills, but also help shape the culture of our school and make it a place where everyone feels valued and supported.
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) Leaders, Library Leaders and Year 6 Student Leaders were acknowledged at our Whole School Assembly on Monday.
We will support and celebrate the leadership of our students, as they inspire us all to be the best versions of ourselves!
All the best,
Jane Dunstone
