What's been happening this week?

DISTRICT SWIMMING

Well done to our students who represented BHNPS last week at District Swimming.

YEAR 3/4 MATHS

Year 3 and 4 have explored the history of the 7 ancient wonders of the world through Maths! Students collaborated to build models of the ancient wonders using place value blocks. They identified the size of their creations into the tens, hundreds and thousands, and explored ‘renaming’ and ‘regrouping’ to calculate just how many blocks it takes to build a world wonder. We were very impressed with their creativity and determination to use their place value knowledge in multiple ways!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO IN 1/2

The Year 1/2 students had a wonderful time exploring the capacity of various shaped containers. They estimated the capacity and then measured the exact capacity using cups of water. The students linked some literacy with numeracy, by measuring the capacity of the bowls of porridge from Goldilocks and the three bears.

The Year  1/2  students have dived into writing Narratives and have really enjoyed working together to create Bold Beginnings using ‘sizzing starts.’ Keep an eye out in the next newsletter for a sneak peak at some of our narratives.

We wish everyone a wonderful long weekend. Please be sure to keep reading your readers!
