Harmony Week (March 16th- 22nd) is just around the corner, and we are excited to celebrate this special day at LPPS on Friday March 20th. The theme of Harmony Week is “Everyone Belongs”. This will also be the first event promoted by our Wellbeing Captains, who are looking forward to helping bring our community together to recognise the importance of respect, belonging and acceptance. Next Friday, we encourage everyone to show their support by wearing a dash of orange as we celebrate Harmony Day together.

Our Wellbeing Captains play an important role in supporting student wellbeing, encouraging THRIVE behaviours, and helping students feel valued and connected within our community. In this newsletter, we shine the spotlight on Taylor, who is sharing a little about herself and what she hopes to achieve in her role as Wellbeing Captain.

Hi, I'm Taylor, and I am one of the 2026 Wellbeing Captains. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am kind, supportive and funny which helps when others need support. I have 3 siblings, who have either been at the school or are currently attending.  I would love for everyone to get involved with their learning. My goal as one of the Wellbeing Captains is to support our school and its environment, encourage others to show the THRIVE values and make our school a positive learning community.

Some of our Captains attended the EMC Leadership Day alongside student leaders from three other schools in our network. During the day, they heard from the EMC Captains and participated in four leadership workshops. In the Change Project workshop, students were encouraged to identify areas they could improve within our school. Our student leaders suggested ideas including improvements to the bike shed, the Year 2 playground, reducing litter, and introducing lunchtime clubs that would be run by student leaders.

It was a fantastic day that highlighted the creativity, leadership and positive behaviour of our student leaders. I was very proud of the way our captains represented our school, and it was a pleasure to attend the day alongside them.
