Centenary Whole School Assembly – Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future of NHS
As part of our Centenary celebrations, we warmly invite our entire school community to attend a very special Whole School Assembly on Tuesday, 28 April 2026 from 11:30am – 12:40pm at Merri Park (North Park).
This year’s assembly will carry the theme “Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future of NHS”, bringing together students, families, alumni, ex-staff and community members to celebrate 100 years of Northcote High School.
This is not just our annual assembly—it is a significant centenary event that will feature:
- A cultural smoking ceremony to open proceedings
- Musical performances by our students
- Reflections on our school’s history and future
- Addresses from:
- Principal, Chris Jones
- Assistant Principal (Head of Senior School), Jane Lange
- School Captains (past and present)
- A special moment where our 2026 School Captains will be presented with the NHS blazer, symbolising leadership and tradition
An alumni speaker (to be confirmed)
Following the assembly, alumni are invited to a light lunch in the W M Olver Hall (RSVP required)
Student Event Details
The assembly will take place during Connect and Period 3
Students will be seated on the grass, students are advised to bring a picnic banket or a cushion to sit on.
Visitor Information
Families and community members are very welcome to attend.
- Arrival from 11:15am
- Entry via North Park, St Georges Road or Sumner Avenue (no school sign-in required)
- A designated seating area will be available for parents
Guests are encouraged to bring camping chairs or picnic blankets
Accessibility & Alumni Support
Alumni that will require assistance can be dropped off in the NHS circular driveway, where student leaders will assist access to the park. Seating can be arranged upon request, please indicate your needs when responding via the Compass event link, including RSVP for the luncheon
Transport & Parking
Limited parking, please use Sumner Avenue or nearby streets
The St Georges Road tram (Number 11) is a convenient public transport option.
Weather & Updates
In the event of poor weather, arrangements will be adjusted and communicated via Compass.

Photos and video may be taken during the event for our centenary archive and school promotions.
