Division Swimming Carnival
On March 3 we had a team of 69 students compete in the Division Swimming Carnival which was held at Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Northcote High hosted the day. Our sports captains and some of our swim team were amazing in lending a hand with timing events and assisting in marshaling. They did a fantastic job, this helped the day run smoothly. Northcote dominated the pool with by far the largest team out of all schools competing. 36 of our students came away with wins which sees them progressing to the Regional Carnival which is held on March 26 at Watermarc in Greensborough. We are looking forward to cheering our swim team on at Regionals and wish them all the best.
Yr 8 Cricket
Our Year 8 inter school cricket day was a fun and competitive experience. The day started with everyone arriving early to warm up and practice their batting, bowling, and fielding. Once the matches began, our team worked together and showed great teamwork and sportsmanship. Some players hit impressive boundaries while others took important wickets that helped our team stay in the game. Fielders also made great stops and catches, preventing the other team from scoring easy runs.
Although the matches were challenging, everyone stayed positive and encouraged each other. Between games we rested, talked with friends, and prepared for the next match. By the end of the day, everyone had improved their skills and enjoyed representing the school. Overall, it was a great day of sport, teamwork, and fun.

Year 7 Girls Divisional Cricket
On Friday 13th March we ventured out to Donath Reserve playing 2 x10 over matches against Thornbury and Preston. 2 of our girls played weekend Cricket but our other 8 players were playing for the first time. Against Thornbury we made 33 to their 43 runs. In our second match we gave most of our players a chance to bat and bowl. Even though we lost to Preston by 4 runs, l still noticed a vast improvement in our skills and knowledge. Having a bye in round 3 our team watched our Mixed team and spent 30 minutes working on their catching and fielding skills. Our team learnt a lot in one day and are keen to play again next year. A big thank you to two experienced players. Saisha Hans of 7F helped all of our new players with putting on protective gear and the rules and skills of the game.

On Friday the Year 7s went to Resevoir to play division cricket. This was there first inter-
school sports for most of them so this was a good experience. The first match was against Preston. We were chasing 42 and they looked in trouble but a couple of important late innings allowed them to make the total with one over to spare. The second game was against Thornbury and they were too good. It was a tough game but we managed to get to 47 in the first innings thanks to a good knock from Freddie. They got our total quickly but overall it was a very fun day for everyone.

Senior Boys/ Mixed Regional Baseball
On Wednesday the 18th of March, the Northcote High senior baseball team went out to Craigieburn to face off against Gladstone Park Secondary College, St Helena Secondary, Richmond High and Diamond Creek Secondary. We started the morning against Gladstone Park. The game started with Felix Shelton and Oscar Naughton hitting a home run each to lead us off. Gladstone Park quickly snapped back scoring three runs of their own, that lead was short lived as we scored one more run to tie up the score. In the last inning, Diamond Creek just slipped past and managed to score 2 runs to win the game with a final score of 3-5.
The next game was against Diamond Creek who came out the gate strong, managing to score four runs in the first innings while keeping us to one run. The second innings is when we really came back, scoring 4 runs to tie the game but unfortunately losing due to time related rules.
We then played St. Helena where we had a strong 3 run first inning with Oscar scoring yet another home run. St. Helena responded with some big hits of their own, but in the end, we managed to squeeze out another 3 runs before the game was called giving us our first win of the day for a score of 6-3.
Our last game was against Richmond which started with them narrowly getting 2 runs in the first innings. We snapped back and managed to score 3 runs to put us in the lead but it just wasn’t enough to keep us ahead as Richmond scored 2 in the last inning to win the game 3-4
