“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” - Ray Bradbury
MRC Student of the Term
Congratulations to Ellie Jones from 7 Purple. Ellie is an avid reader and frequent user of the MRC. She accesses the MRC webpage and successfully uses the features such as reserving books, locating new releases and has read our in-house Book Reviews. She has borrowed over 10 times so far this term…amazing! We really appreciate your efforts. Well done, Ellie!
RAGE Book Club
Recently, at RAGE Book Club we spent some time writing haiku poetry. Leilani Davies wrote the following:
Past the rushing streams
Where chaotic currents swirl
Lies serene silence.
The Children’s Book Council of Australia has published their notables list for 2026. Students are encouraged to visit us in the Library to borrow a stack of books for some holiday reading. We have lots of the notables list in our Fiction Library and would love to see them read over the break.
Harmony Week
In the MRC we have talked about Harmony Week in our Wide Reading Sessions and reading books from a diverse range of authors. We had a display for the week reminding students that no matter our race or religion we all belong.

Break Open a Speggtacular Book for the holidays!
We encourage all students to come into the MRC and Fiction Library for some holiday borrowing. We have some amazing new releases, plus the MRC houses a whole section on Cookery if any students need some recipe inspiration for the break.

Reading For Pleasure
In the UK, the House of Commons Committees ‘Reading For Pleasure’ Education Select Committee, released the following summary around young people and their reading habits.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter,

McAuley Resources Co-Learning Leaders
Our College community came together joyfully to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, in conjunction with Catholic Education Week, themed “Christ Beside Me: Walking in the Footsteps of Saint Patrick.” This theme invited all members of our community to reflect on the enduring faith and missionary spirit of Saint Patrick in our daily lives.

Members of the SSLT, alongside Mr Doran, warmly welcomed students in the morning with Irish music, rainbow lollies symbolising hope and promise, and shamrock stickers representing the Trinity. At lunchtime, Mr Doran further enriched the celebration by leading Irish dancing tutorials, which were met with great enthusiasm and participation.

In a more formal expression of the day, our Year 10 Green Captains proudly represented the College at the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) St Patrick’s Day Mass held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, demonstrating both leadership and reverence.
