Principal's Message

Good afternoon all,
We have had a busy couple of weeks at Sacred Heart! The highlight this week for our students was the celebration of Harmony Day. Students dressed in clothes representing their country of origin or the colour orange which is the colour for Harmony Day. Our parade was very colourful and was a joyful occasion for all. It was lovely to see some parents participating in this event. Students have created beautiful harmony hearts which are on display in our walkway. Our year 5&6 students showed great initiative in leading some games and activities on the day for the younger students.
Our court refurbishment is progressing well and we anticipate that it will be ready for use next term. The courts should be done this week and we will have the fencing crew next week. The students are really excited about being able to use the courts next term.
Our Advisory council met in week 7 and we had some great discussion regarding our Annual Action Plan and the events planned for this year. We also discussed the feedback from our SIT review last year. I have included some of the feedback in the newsletter for you to read also. This feedback was used to shape our Annual Action Plan. Katie Donaldson has stepped down from her role on the council this year. Kate Wheelhouse has joined the council this year and we welcomed her to our team.
Our Easter egg fundraiser is in progress and we are very grateful for the support for this. The funds raised will contribute to a new data projector which we need for our Mercy Centre. The current projector is quite old and we have been advised that it can no longer be fixed. We are looking forward to this being replaced and have already sought some quotes.
With Holy week almost upon us I encourage you to take part in the services at our Church or in other Churches. Easter is a time of renewal and you will always be welcomed. I wish you all the very best for the Easter break and hope you enjoy some time with loved ones.
I will leave you with this Lenten Prayer:
O Lord, remember
Not only the men and women of good will
But also those of ill will
But do not remember the suffering
They have inflicted on us
Instead, remember the frutis we
Have brought because of this suffering
-our comradeship, our loyalty to one another
Our humility, our courage our generosity,
The greatness of heart which has grown out of all this
And when they come to the judgement,
Let all the fruits that we have borne
Be their forgiveness.
Amen
Prayer found on a child at Ravensbrook concentration camp Germany in Patrick O’Sullivan, I call you friends, 17
Blessings
Carolyn
