Creativity in KIAH - ‘A beautiful place’
In our cultural room called KIAH, our students have been enthusiastically participating in a variety of creative art activities. This welcoming cultural space provides students with the opportunity to relax, connect, and express themselves through hands-on learning. Recently, students have been crafting pinch pots from clay, carefully shaping and moulding their designs while developing patience and fine motor skills. Others have enjoyed painting and colouring, experimenting with colour, pattern, and imagination to create unique artworks. It is wonderful to see their pride as they share their finished pieces with friends and families celebrating both their artistic talents and their growing sense of belonging within our school community.
Celebrating Women
During Women’s Week, our students had the privilege of participating in cultural activities at the local Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council, hosted by the Galuma-li Dhawun Rangers. The day focused on celebrating the strength, leadership, and resilience of Aboriginal women while deepening students’ connection to culture, creativity and Country. Through hands-on experiences in weaving, jewellery making and painting, students were able to be creative and make something special.
The experience fostered pride, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. It was a powerful opportunity for our young people to connect with other students and Elders in our community.
Thank you to the Galuma-li Dhawun Rangers for organising a wonderful celebration for women.
