Sustainability Club

Sustainability Club Tuesdays 1:45pm - 3pm

This week, the Tuesday lunchtime Sustainability Club sprang back into action with enthusiasm, thanks to the invaluable support of our dedicated parent volunteer, Kahliah, and the guidance of Aasta. Students eagerly took to the garden, starting with the meticulous task of weeding the art yarning circle area and extending their efforts to the Performing Arts section. Despite the progress made, there's still plenty on our green agenda, and Aasta is welcoming any willing hands to join in the endeavour. Throughout the week, many students have taken the initiative to continue tending to the garden during their playtimes, showcasing a commendable commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Indigital Program

In an exciting collaboration, some grade 3 and 4 students, alongside two mentor students from grade 6, have been handpicked to participate in the innovative Indigital Schools Program, spearheaded by Aasta and Taylah. This pioneering initiative aims to blend Indigenous cultural knowledge, history, and language with digital skills, fostering a deep appreciation for both heritage and technology. Moreover, the program has forged a partnership with Zoo's Victoria Fighting Extinction Program, spotlighting the critically endangered Victorian Grasslands Earless Dragon. This unique collaboration not only raises awareness about conservation efforts but also empowers students to take an active role in preserving biodiversity. Recently, the students delved into their project with gusto, brainstorming insightful questions about caring for country, delving into the rich history of the Wurundjeri peoples, and exploring the significance of the Manna Gum in Indigenous culture. Their journey has also led to the fascinating discovery of witchy grubs, adding a hands-on dimension to their learning. Meanwhile, Aasta has been diligently honing her digital skills, mastering the art of creating the dragon digitally, while Taylah lent her expertise in 3D printing to bring the design to life. As the year progresses, these budding digital artisans will continue to collaborate with Elders and Knowledge Holders, weaving together tradition and technology to pave the way for a more culturally enriched and environmentally conscious future.
