Nugal-nganjin Garden

Nugal-nganjin means 'Ours';  our garden was named by Aunty Gail of the Wurundjeri Tribe

Growth during the past Month

Over the past month, our school garden has undergone an extraordinary transformation, marked by a shift from the lush abundance of summer crops to the splendour of native plants. As the summer crops gracefully fade, making way for the indigenous flora, it's evident that a new chapter of growth has begun. Among the stars of this botanical spectacle is the saltbush, poised to assert its dominance and paint the landscape with its silvery-green foliage. However, with such exuberant growth comes the need for careful tending. In the coming weeks, we anticipate a series of well-needed working bees to reign in the unruly expansion, provide essential support to the plants, and ensure that our garden remains a sight to behold. One of our exciting projects on the horizon is the installation of hoop edging, a task eagerly anticipated since the delivery at the end of last term. Shout out if you know anything about this sort of edging, Aasta could do with some hands on help!

'Give an Hour' Working Bee

To tackle the weeds and ensure our school continues to be a beautiful and inspiring place for learning, we are excited to announce this year’s upcoming 'Give an Hour' Working Bee. This community-driven event relies on the generosity of our parents and volunteers to help maintain our school grounds.

Dates: The First Saturday of the Month 1pm - 2pm

Your participation, even if for just an hour, can make a significant difference in maintaining the beauty of our school environment.

The garden is continuing to have new additions. If you have plants you grow at home that represent your culture we'd love to add them to the garden. Chat to David or Aasta to arrange this!
