Enter the Wellbeing Zone

Welcome to the Wellbeing Zone. When you enter the zone, you will find a wealth of information about all the things happening in the Wellbeing space at Sunshine Heights PS as well as strategies, articles, book recommendations and events that will help build our dream and culture of Wellbeing throughout our school community, inside and outside of school, so that we can sail together through a universe of possibilities with all the emotional and social skills we need to thrive.

Student & Parent Diversity Ambassadors Program

Don't forget.....

YOU could be our next Diversity Ambassador!!!

Thanks to a generous grant from the organisation, Together for Humanity, of which we were a lucky recipient, we are super excited to start our own Student & Parent Diversity Ambassadors Program.

The program will see us form a committee of students and parents who represent and advocate for the different diverse groups within our school community, working with their identified community to increase engagement, voice and representation. The committee members will work together to create a shared understanding of - and between - the many diverse communities at Sunshine Heights Primary.

Interested parents and students can complete an expression of interest form, which the 'Together for Humanity' action team of staff will review, shortlist and interview.

The chosen ambassadors will be offered training to help them co-design with their communities to develop initiatives, ideas and processes that help support understanding and awareness of the many ways we are diverse at Sunshine Heights Primary School and to promote empathy, connection and belonging.

If you are passionate about social impact and helping share the voices and stories of your identified community to create a positive impact at Sunshine Heights Primary School, we are searching for diversity ambassadors from ALL diversities (cultural, social, gender, sexuality, religious, disability, racial, mental health, age +++).

If this sounds like something you or your child would be interested in, please complete an expression of interest form HERE

If you would like to know more or ask a question before completing an EOI, please email me at Francine.Sculli@education.vic.gov.au

Smile Squad Onsite

We are super lucky to have the Smile Squad crew from Co-Health back onsite for the first 2 weeks of this term. The Smile Squad will be running their usual yearly dental check ups out of the Wellbeing Room, for any families who signed their child up when the link was sent through Compass last term. They also have their amazing treatment van set up in the car park and will be completing 6-month check ups for any students who required one from previous participation in 2024.

If you missed out on registering your child for the FREE yearly check up, Smile Squad have advised that you can still submit a late registration online, by signing up to Smile Squad at: https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic

They cannot guarantee a check up, but if they have capacity to see late enrolment students at the end of their time here they will. If they cannot see late enrolled students, they will offer you a clinic appointment!

Resilient Youth and Parent Surveys

Each year for the past four years, our students in Grade 4-6 have completed the Resilient Youth Survey, helping us get a temperature check on their wellbeing needs and using this data to support and develop initiatives to support these needs.

This year, I will be working with a group of students in Grade 6, who will be a wellbeing student team. They will be delivering the survey to the students across 4-6 on Monday 29th April, as well as analysing the data and developing targeted initiatives later in Term 2 and beyond.

This year, Resilient Youth Australia have given us access to the parent surveys too. We know that our parent and family wellbeing is just as important as our students' wellbeing and we would love to know how you are feeling and think of ways that we can support our families through our community too, which is why we would love to invite parents and families to complete the parent survey.

The survey is voluntary and anonymous, but we would love as many families to complete it as possible to help us understand the needs of our community better. The survey is accessible online.
