This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to be competent in introductory game design and development, which will offers an excellent pathway into the gaming industry.

 

Jobs are available across a wide range of game development areas, including game art, game programming, game animation, game testing and technical support. During the course, students produce a basic portfolio of work to show to potential employers.

 

Years 1 and 2

  • Securely manage personally identifiable information and workplace information
  • Apply simple textures and shading to three-dimensional (3D) models for digital games
  • Develop and extend critical and creative thinking skills
  • Apply introductory programming techniques
  • Work in a team
  • Develop three-dimensional (3D) models for digital games
  • Create 2D digital animations
  • Provide basic system administration
  • Maintain and repair ICT equipment and software
  • Provide ICT advice to clients
  • Install, configure and secure a small office or home office network
  • Identify IP, ethics and privacy policies in ICT environments

After successful completion of the two year program, students will qualify for a Certificate III in Information Technology.

Scored assessment is available for this study. Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for this study must undertake the scored assessment. As a scored VET study this subject will contribute to the student's ATAR, either as one of the student's top 4 studies (the 'primary four') or as a 5th or 6th study increment.
