In this study, learn to provide a range of beauty services including nails, waxing, lash and brow, and make-up. There is a focus on making sure that students have a strong customer-service approach when consulting with clients and students are ready to walk into a job at a salon.
Aims
- Provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance employment prospects in the beauty industry.
- Enable students to gain a recognised credential and make a more informed choice of vocational and career paths.
- Prepare students to have a customer focus service approach to client consultation.
Years 1 and 2
- Use electric file equipment for nail services
- Advise on beauty products and services
- Provide manicure and pedicare services
- Research and apply beauty industry information
- Apply safe hygiene, health and work practices
- Provide First Aid
- Apply cosmetic tanning products
- Design and apply make-up
- Conduct salon financial transactions

Assessment
This program is not a scored study. Students who successfully complete the Unit 3 & 4 sequence will receive one ATAR increment, which is calculated as 10 per cent of the fourth-ranked study score from the student's 'top four' Unit 3 & 4 studies.
Additional resources
A make-up kit must be purchased directly from Holmesglen. The cost for the make-up kit in 2024 was $450 and this may increase in 2025.
